Peperoni Pizzeria offers a limited menu this November 2016 (Review)

Pizza is one of my favorite comfort food, along with pasta. I just love Italian food, which is why it’s no surprise that I absolutely enjoy dining at Peperoni Pizzeria.

Peperoni, a Singapore-based pizza franchise, opened its second branch at UP Town Center a few months ago, and they launched a limited edition menu to go with the milestone.

I previously posted a Zomato review of my experience at their first branch, with a long list of pizzas I really enjoyed, so I was looking forward to this limited edition menu.

Here’s a sneak peek of my favorite from the limited ed dishes:

Tada! The limited ed Peperoni menu for November:

Portobello Funghi Pizza (Php 595) portobello mushroom, tomato concasse, scallion, egg, truffle oil

Sorry guys, no whole pizza photo, I was late, so I was lucky I even got a slice! haha.Anyway, being someone who loves loves loves loves mushrooms, I was a tad bit disappointed. I expected more earthiness or deep flavor from mushrooms, and more truffle flavor, but those were subtle. Anyhow, I did like how generous they were with the toppings, and the egg balanced everything out.

Funghi e Tartufo (Php 440) sauteed shiitake and button mushrooms in truffle cream sauce

This pasta was creamy mushroom perfection. Not kidding. It was a perfect balance of cream, mushroom, herbs and truffle. I liked how it wasn’t too heavy, and I could finish the whole plate even when it’s a cream based pasta.

And my favorite:

Foie Gras Pizza (Php 890) foie gras, button mushroom, parma ham, egg, onions, spinach, truffle oil

This one was a blockbuster hit! I could really taste the foie gras, the truffle oil, and the savory goodness of parma ham. They were generous with all of the toppings so the price is definitely worth it. The parma ham was perfectly crispy and added texture to the rustic pizza. All in all, every component blended well to make this one, a pizza flavor to remember.

I loved it so much, I even posted a short video on my instagram for it:

Now after all that cheese, wouldn’t you crave for something sweet to end the meal? Here are some desserts I tried, although not included in the limited ed menu. Yay for yummy desserts available year round!

Creme Brulee (Php 240) baked vanilla bean custard, with a layer of caramelized sugar

not too sweet, and torched just right. Custard fans will love this smooth brulee.

Tiramisu (Php 275) Savoiardi, layered in mascarpone, flavored with aromatic coffee and kahlua

Tortino al Cioccolato (Php 365) rich molten chocolate cake, served with vanilla ice cream.

The Peperoni UP Town Center branch is a bit smaller than the one in Uptown BGC, but equally as cozy. I’m definitely coming back with my family for a Pizza Party to let them try the new dishes!

Urbanize: Equipping Urbanites for Everyday Adventures

aims to be a one-stop shop for every urbanite: whether you’re a weekend warrior, a bus gymnast, a railway athlete, a hip commuter, a
multi-tasking expert, or anything in between.

Just recently, I spent an afternoon at Urbanize’s newest branch at the
3rd Floor of Uptown Mall, BGC, along with some blogger friends, where we checked out what the store had to offer.

I’m a multi-hyphenate: full time regulatory pharmacist, budding tech
startup entrepreneur, lifestyle blogger, not to mention all the other
roles I take up for friends and family. With everything that I do, I
need gadgets, accessories, and other things that would make my everyday activities easier to deal with.

Urbanize carries a lot of of international brands that offer Organization such as Pinqponq® and Focused Space®, Tech Protection of STM® and Security Bags of Pacsafe®  and minimalist bags from Sherpani®.

This bag from Sherpani was actually one of my favorites from all the bag brands in the store. I just loved the colors and structure, especially for this style. A close second would be the Kanken backpack from the travelers’ cult favorite brand Fjall Raven.

They also have the world’s thinnest wallets from Allett® and genuine leather goods from Kiko®, Swisstech® first in key ring tools, and Car Accessories from Highroad® that organizes your car essentials.

in photo above (clockwise): Highroad Back Seat Organizer, Swisstech
Multi Tool, Allett Womens Original Slim Wallet, Elecom Universal Phone

They also have a lot of mobile accessories, their most popular brand being Japan’s No. 1 brand on Mobile Peripherals, Elecom®

favorite from the store are the Artiart® the Suction Mug and tumbler. I was fascinated at how they can really stay put despite all the vigorous disturbances. Teehee. But it’s also easy to get off the table, just pull it upright!

The revelation of the day would have to be the Hydrapak® collapsible water bottle with no-leak™ guarantee. It would be so perfect for travelling, and even for everyday use! It fits even inside my smallest bag, so you can hydrate easily! For anyone concerned a lot with hygiene, it would also be a great container for getting fluids in restaurants, without using the publicly displayed glasses in the middle of a food court, for example. Just pop open your Hydrapak, and fill it up with the service water! Plus, it’s sooo durable. I watched as a full grown man, on the heavy side,  step on a fully filled Hydrapak, and it didn’t burst. Amazeballs.

Foraudiophiles, they also carry Multi-tool Gear and Audio essentials from Mifa® with outdoor ready speakers

So there, that’s just some of the stuff I spotted at Urbanize. I hear they also have other gear like the trendy luggage covers from Loqi, and whole bunch of other things I have yet to discover.  Urbanize definitely has everyone covered, with anything and everything every Urbanite needs to stay mobile, safe, organized and focused.

Doctor Strange: Going Beyond Expectations

A visually stunning spectacle with humor injected at every turn and packaged with all the suspense and action from a Marvel movie, this is probably the most concise way I would describe the latest offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Doctor Strange.

I was lucky to watch the preview screening of Doctor Strange just last night, and I was mind blown! I had little expectations from this movie, as I had no idea who Doctor Strange was, but I enjoyed every minute of it! The CGI, effects were amazing, the actors convincing, and the humor was timed perfectly. It’s a movie that would be appreciated both by Marvel comic fans, and even those who are unfamiliar with the franchise.

From Marvel Studios comes “Doctor Strange”, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place – a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long, Strange – armed with newly acquired magical powers – is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying, and totally mind-bending journey when Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange opens on October 26.

The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, and Benjamin Wong as Wong as the titular characters, with Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Strange’s colleague and love interest, plus Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, the movie’s primary villain.

Thoughts on the Movie

The movie wastes no time in building all the characters. Doctor Strange is arrogant, belittles anyone lower than his standards, and boasts of his talents whenever possible. It wasn’t easy to feel sorry for the guy, but the development of his character and the subsequent anguish was pretty convincing for anyone to get invested with the character.

Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing in his portrayal of Doctor Strange, easily transitioning from cold genius doctor to desperate patient to superhero, while having great comedic timing. His interaction with Rachel McAdams, is okay, but shows great potential in terms of chemistry and witty banter.

Tilda Swinton is also highly commendable as the Ancient One. She portrayed an androgynous supernatural being well, showing how multi-dimensional an otherwise serene character is. She was probably my favorite character in the movie, being a beacon of good and defender of worlds, while also having a lot of inner conflicts and bad decisions.

It’s really difficult to describe all the characters lest I spoil the plot, but I can honestly say that all the characters were developed well. You’d come out of the movie understanding the motives and actions of each one.

The visual effects are amazing, from a topsy turvy New York City, to the infinite starry galaxy, and to psychedelic alternate realms, it was all stunning. perfect for watching in 3D!

All in all, I’d give this movie a high 9.5/10! Not perfect because there were some lagging parts, which I think were unnecessary. It’s definitely a movie I would highly recommend, bring your friends and family because I guarantee it’s worth it.

Let me know how you feel about the movie by posting on social media using the hashtags #DoctorStrangePH #OpenYourMind. See you online!

Doctor Strange opens in Philippine cinemas starting October 26, 2016.

Gone were the days when we would just text, now we can even send photos, videos and even files through messaging apps. To make convos even more fun, we use emojis, even better, stickers!

I used to collect stickers when I was a kid, I had a looooot of sticker albums. They were so cute, and great to share with friends and loved ones. It’s the same for messenger apps. Stickers help express a thought or idea better because of the colors, shapes, and catchy phrasing.

7 Flavors: Affordable Buffet Dining Destination at the Heart of San Juan

If it isn’t obvious already, I’ll say it again, I love food. I love eating out. From Facebook posts to Instagram stories and Snapchat videos, you’ll see me posting a lot about food.

Which is why I always find time to go to new restaurants and discover
what’s new in the neighborhood. For today’s post, I’m sharing my
experience at 7 Flavors Buffet & Ala Carte
at San Juan. 7 Flavors is a budget friendly buffet and ala cart dining
restaurant that uses the 7 flavors (sweet, salty, bitter, sour, spicy,
umami and astringent), and showcases cuisine from all over the world.

Ranked No. 7
Pinaka Patok na Buffet Restos 2016

by popular lifestyle show Ang Pinaka, 7 Flavors is helmed by celebrity chef and Kusina Master Chef Boy Logro.

The restaurant just opened last May, but it already has a steady stream of loyal clientele.

The restaurant is separated into two sections: the ala carte cafe is at the first floor, while the buffet is at the second floor.

I loved the ambiance of the first floor as it was really cozy, and the chalk board art + menu really stood out.

As for the second floor, the setup is a buffet area at one side of the room, then there’s a big general dining area, and a few function rooms you can reserve for special gatherings. From what I noticed, there are three rooms you can get depending on your need.

Now onto the food!

7 Flavors Buffet Food

The starters section was brimming with yummy options that can whet your appetite. From warm soft bread, soup, to crispy tacos, croquettes, and salads, there’s an option for everyone.

My favorite would be the taco station because the shell was really crispy, and the beef was seasoned well, plus I get to put a lot of cheese on mine!

Another favorite is these croquettes, brown and crispy on the outside, soft, fluffy, smooth, and savory on the inside.

There’s also a DIY salad bar if you don’t like the other options, so everyone is covered.

Lechon Al Horno – the lechon was good, the skin crispy and properly salted. The meat was juicy and tender, every bit what you would want from roast pork. The only issue for me was it took a long time for the crackle to be replenished, haha. The other buffet goers piled the crackle high on their plates, leaving little to our group.

Chicken Fricasse – chicken in cream sauce, it was good, but easily forgettable

Pork Medallion – I was very surprised that it was called pork medallion, because this isn’t what pork medallion looks like. Anyhow, it tastes more like an Asian pork stew

Thai Fish Curry – surprisingly yummy, the fish curry didn’t have any of that fishy smell, instead was fragrant and packed a lot of flavor in every bite

Soy Tofu – this reminded me so much of the tofu hot pot dishes served in clay pots at Chinese restaurants. It was good, but not a favorite

Beef Kare Kare – you actually have to dig through layers of vegetables before you get to the beef. It was your typical kare kare, not too creamy, but not soupy either.

Singaporean Mixed Seafood – surprisingly good as well. I didn’t think much of this one until I had a bite. It was an oriental stew of sorts, and had just the right amount chili for that extra kick

Korean Salmon Head – the star of the night. Everyone agreed that this was their favorite. It was the perfect harmony of salty and sweet

Baked Creamy Vegetable

Fried Rice

Roast Beef – it wasn’t outstanding, but it was juicy and packed flavor.

DIY Pizza and Pasta Station- they also have this DIY pasta and pizza station where you could choose between sauces and toppings. I got to try the four cheese pasta and the pomodoro.

Assorted Sushi Plate – the sushi and rolls are nothing new, but they tasted great and made with quality ingredients.

Spotted this lobster carving on a pumpkin! Not sure if this is Chef Boy Logro’s creation but it does add a nice touch

They had cakes, cream puffs, cupcakes, brownies, mango sago, maja blanca, etc., for the dessert spread.

My personal favorite was the mango sago, but my friends also loved the maja blanca

They also have a DIY halo halo station, as well as ice cream!

They have juices for their unlimited drink options, but you can also order from their ala carte menu.

Ala Carte

We tried the Elvis milkshake, as well as the fruit shakes and a matcha green tea latte. I liked the Elvis milkshake a lot because it had the peanut butter chocolate goodness I was craving for.

All in all, I had a great time at 7Flavors, it gives you great value for money while also giving a nice place for family gatherings and parties with friends. They actually aren’t competing with buffet bigwigs like Vikings, Buffet 101, Sambokojin, etc. because the price is lower, and they offer a more intimate dining experience. Considering what you get for their price, I’d think that’s a fair trade.

The 7Flavors Buffet Rates:

  • Mondays to Thursdays: Lunch at Php 400, dinner at Php 500
  • Fridays-Sundays, lunch at Php 600, dinner at Php 600

Feast on Streetfood Faves at SM Hypermarket’s SM Streetfood Festival

Streetfood is an important part of Filipino food culture. When I was in high school, I would always get excited after class dismissal because after that I could eat my favorite fishballs, and other tusok tusok favorites.

Fast forward to today, I rarely get to enjoy taho, cheesy corn kernels, binatog, ice scramble, isaw or fish balls because I work in BGC and streetfood vendors are nowhere to be found. There’s nothing like a fresh, hot plastic cup of taho as my morning pick me upper, or a stick of crispy fried fishballs dipped in spicy sweet sauce to comfort me after an exhausting day. on my weekends, these streetfood vendors are more scarce because they prefer to set up stalls near schools, which usually don’t have classes on weekends. Sad.

Recently, SM Hypermarket launched the SM Streetfood Festival, much to my delight! It gathers together literally every streetfood favorite you know, and partners with Unilever, Nestle, San Miguel, Alaska, Del Monte, P&G, CDO, Frabelle, Farm Fresh and Bounty Fresh to bring these at a SM Hypermarket near you.

I was able to attend the Grand Launch at SM Hypermarket Fairview on August 31, but the fun doesn’t stop there! Here’s a schedule of the delicious SM Streetfood Festival Roadshow:

  • SM Valenzuela – Sept. 9
  • SM Bicutan – Sept. 23
  • SM Molino – Oct. 14
  • SM Mall of Asia – Oct. 20

Feast your eyes on a lot of yummy food, starting from local street food classics like the fishballs, isaw, to local kakanin to international street food like waffles, takoyaki, shawarma, pasta and a whole lot more.

Aside from these established brands, the SM Streetfood Festival also highlighted new players on the streetfood scene like Cebu Lechon Belly, Southern Dairy Gelato, Banchetto’s Crepes, Takoyaki, Bacon wrapped delights, the best selling SM Markets Turon with Langka (priced at Php 15 for something as big as my head! and filled with yummy sweet bananas and jackfruit).

Aside from the activity area filled to brim with food stalls featuring great tasting streetfood, participants also get to join in on the fun and games and win prizes! During the Fairview leg, they even handed out prizes to participants who can show their Pokemon Go profiles!

For the grand raffle draw on October 20 at the SM Mall of Asia, SM Hypermarket will also have celebrity guests present to join in on the fun! Spotted during the launch at SM Hypermarket Fairview was Love Anover, GMA News correspondent.

As an added treat, participants also get to learn a thing or two from the cooking demos of renowned chefs like popular TV personality, Chef Boy Logro.

Catch him and other chefs at the other rounds of SM Streetfood Festival.

Participants are also saving a lot when purchasing at the festival as usual grocery buys will be on irresistible promos such as discounts or price-offs, and bundles.

Participants can also participate in the raffle, where you can win Php 100,000 worth of Shopping Spree from SM Hypermarket. Just buy a bundle like the ones below and you get a raffle coupon!!!

Aren’t you as excited as I am? I can’t wait for the one happening at SM Mall of Asia, and I’m bringing my whole family to have fun and fill up our happy tummies!

See you there!!

Capture beautiful memories with the new Huawei P9

A picture paints a thousand words.

I cannot count how many times I’ve read/heard that phrase, but then it is true. Photos have a way of immortalizing memories, encapsulating a single moment in time, and be a reminder of what once was. This is exactly why I love taking photos, because pictures are a nice souvenir of beautiful, precious moments.

These days, taking photos is made even easier with smartphone cameras, and the smartphone camera market is highly competitive because of well-informed consumers. To be one step ahead of its competitors, Huawei teamed up with renowned German lens maker Leica for the Huawei P9’s dual camera. The Huawei P9’s dual camera has two sensors, one in multicolor and one monochrome. The photos turn out with a striking color because of the merging algorithm that intelligently combines colors taken by both sensors

To show you guys how the Huawei P9 camera was for me, I’m sharing photos that remind me of a lot of things:

Note: All photos are raw, no treatments, just adjustments with the Huawei P9 Camera before shooting

Back when I was a kid, my siblings and I would try to suck out the nectar from the santan flowers in our garden. Recently, we went back to our childhood home, where my grandfather currently resides, and I took photos of a few things that take me back to fun memories of my childhood.

The santan flowers were one, and I’m glad they’re in full bloom at the old house. I used the depth of field mode to blur out the back ground and other santan flowers, producing a dramatic nature photo.

The Huawei P9 camera has a lot of tools anyone can play around with, from auto filters, to manual settings. The screenshots above show the different modes and settings you can find using the camera app.

Back to my childhood home, the gumamela/hibiscus flowers were also in full bloom, and I was so glad the camera captured the bright pink colors. My grandfather used to make bubbles with the sap of the stem, leaves, and flowers when we were kids.

Then there’s my angkong / grandfather, 92 years strong! He looks frail but he’s still very sharp and can even drive his car on short distances. That’s my cool grandfather. This was taken at the dining table, ignore the Lazy Susan filled to the brim with condiments. Like the santan flowers, I changed up depth of field for this one. Also notice that this was taken in dim light.

Presenting, my dad! HAHAHAHA. My family has this tradition of taking cute photos of the babies, all in this position, and yup, even I have one. Taken in auto mode under dim lighting.

This one is of the Malacanang Palace gate, a few hundred meters away from where I live. I regularly jog here, especially now that I play Pokemon Go, I have to hatch those eggs! This was taken around 11pm, with a slight drizzle of rain, and very little light aside from the lamps.

Just recently, my family needed a break from the hustle and bustle of Manila, so off to the south we go! We had a short staycation, and I took this photo at the rooftop infinity pool at the hotel we were staying in. Used the Night Mode of the Huawei P9 camera, and the Alabang skyline turned out great.

Also tried out the Panorama mode and got this view from the rooftop!

And now, a few snaps with friends:

You all know Charlene as one of my closest blogger friends. We recently went to an event together and decided to test out the front camera, and tadaaa, we love how it helps brighten and smoothen our faces without making the effect look fake. It is one of the best selfie cameras everyone. For real.

I also pigged out recently at a buffet, and couldn’t help but snap a photo of this sushi plate. I love how the vibrant colors were shown in the photo, and this was just by using the auto mode.

For a group photo, I was surprised at how bright this one turned out considering the restaurant was nowhere as lit as this. Again taken in auto mode by the friendly server.

We decided to end our day at our friend’s boardgame café (Rollplay Boardgame Lounge and Cafe), and I asked the owner to snap a candid photo of us because we were actually most active during this game. Fun Farm is the bomb guys, it’s an easy, snappy and a game you have to be always on alert for.

Also used the Huawei P9 to take snaps from my current life at work:

The weather has been unforgiving lately, and this has been the scene for a few days now. Tested the monochrome filter of the camera and I was surprised by how it turned out. It looked like one of those rainy day photos you can enter in a contest

On a lucky sunny day, I decided to test out the three Film Modes: Standard, Vivid and Smooth. I took these before going to my yoga class after work.

Personally, I love using the vivid mode for lush landscapes and vibrant neighborhoods, then the smooth mode for shots of people.

And last, my at work selfies! Kidding, my makeup was flawless because it was for my first event at my new company. It’s such a milestone because it was my first time to help out as a prod staff, because that’s not part of my job description. I got to know more about my workmates in the process, meet new people, and contribute to the event’s success! For the selfies, I just had to do a side by side comparison of the selfie cam under limited lighting (it was at a bar at 8pm), and with sufficient lighting from a ringlight (right photo). Both look great right?

And that wraps it up! What do you think of these photos taken with the Huawei P9?

In a Nutshell

The Huawei P9 boasts a 5.2-inch 1080p display and a 3,000mAh high-density
battery, and is priced at Php 23,990 for 32GB ROM. It is available in 6 colors: Haze Gold, Ceramic White, Rose Gold, Prestige Golf, Titanium Gray, and Mystic Silver. Available in all Huawei stores, authorized distributors and bundled with Globe/Smart postpaid plans.

You can check out more photos taken using the Huawei P9 by using the hashtags #HuwaweiP9PH, #OO, #TheNewChoice on social media. You can also follow their official Instagram account @huaweimobileph. You can also visit their website for the complete specifications of the Huawei P9.

Back to back events for CBTL this weekend: Kiddie Enterprise Fair and Solar Saturdays

This weekend is a very busy one for the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, the
country’s authority on premium. They have two events lined up: the
Kiddie Enterprise Fair and the launching of Solar Saturdays.

To encourage parents to start them young, the Kiddie Enterprise Fair showcases what the Coffee Bean kids have been up to, ever since starting a Business Bootcamp for Kids. The Kiddie Enterprise will be held this September 3, 2016, Saturday at Bonifacio High Street, fronting the CBTL store.

Last April, CBTL gave the Gift of Light during Earth Day to communities with limited or no access to electricity. Seeing how the proceeds from that event greatly impacted the beneficiaries, CBTL decided to launch Solar Saturdays. This time, more people will be able to pay it forward, giving customers the opportunity to build their own solar powered lamps for Php 1000, at different CBTL stores every Saturday.

For more details on both events, hit the read more break 🙂

Kiddie Enterprise Fair: CBTL brews the Country’s Future Entrepreneurs

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is a brand that prides itself in supporting the development of our country and its individuals. With the brand motto being, Brew Your Best Year, it not only intends to make an impact in the lives of the usual adult cafe goers, but also to its young clientele.

With this in mind, Brew
Your Best Year, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®’s community for
encouraging customers to be the best versions of themselves, put
together a Business Bootcamp for Kids. Designed to teach kids the basics
of business in an interactive and experiential way, it is a two-part
activity that aspires to mold the youth into becoming the next
generation of entrepreneurs who will continue to pave the way for a
stronger economy.

For the first part of the bootcamp, Coffee Bean
Kids went through an Entrepreneurship Workshop facilitated by their
partner institution, The Ultimate Learning Accelerator (TULA). During
the workshop, the kids learned the basic knowledge and skills
needed to stwhat they have learned through the course, the Business Bootcamp is culminating
with a Kiddie Enterprise Fair. During the fair, the Coffee Bean Kids
will be selling food and retail items with one goal in mind: to create
successful business ventures and return their parents’ investments
through their earnings.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® invites
everyone to support the Coffee Bean Kids during their first business
venture at the Kiddie Enterprise Fair on September 3, 2016, Saturday!
The event will take place from 11AM-6PM at the garden area in front of
their Bonifacio High Street store. The brand will also be selling their
teas at a special rate and promises exciting surprises for all

CBTL continues to Give the Gift of Light with Solar Saturdays

Every individual deserves the right to a home that is safe, nurturing and encouraging of growth and development. However, this isn’t the case with majority of the Philippine population. It is public knowledge that a lot of Filipinos live below the poverty line, lacking sturdy roofs above their head, food on their table, and even a stable source of light and electricity, showing that this right is not easily attainable.

Recognizing the contribution of light in every individual’s quality of
life, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® celebrated Earth Day last April by partnering
with Liter of Light, a global, grassroots movement committed to
providing affordable, sustainable light to people with limited or no
access to electricity. Customers of all ages acted as solar engineers by
building their own solar-powered lamps for a day, in the hopes of
giving the precious gift of light to those in need.

After the workshop, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®’s own Team Members
hiked to bring the newly-built solar powered lamps to the Dumagat
tribe’s village in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija. Their visit gave them the
opportunity to witness first-hand the life-altering impact their
initiative made on the community. “Light is so valuable. Without it, it
is impossible for us to do anything at night. Since we don’t have
electricity, we sleep early. We can’t work and the children cannot
study,” Councilor Michael Fernando shared. The community was overcome
with gratitude for the solar powered lamps they received. “We are so
grateful for the lights you have given us. This will always serve as a
symbol of light in our hearts and minds,” expressed the community’s
Chieftain, Rodolfo Bendebel.

Seeing the difference a light can make in the lives of others, the
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® was moved to launch #SolarSaturdays, a
series of events that gives customers the opportunity to build their own
solar powered lamps for only Php 1,000 at select stores every Saturday.

Unlocking the Secret to Anti-aging with Nu Skin’s ageLOC Y-span

There’s a reason why the legend of the Fountain of Youth is still so popular, we humans are simply interested with maintaining our youthful state, or even better, lengthen our life span. After all these years, there’s still no product that works like the Fountain of Youth, but there are products like the Nu Skin
ageLOC® Y-Span

that helps you live more youthful years, or in better terms, promote healthy aging.

But first, let me address the prejudice most of us have about the brand, Nu Skin. Nu Skin has earned a rather negative reputation after being branded as a networking company. Yes, it does work with a multi level marketing scheme, and is a direct selling company, but the products are actually legit and backed by scientific research. Let’s just set aside our assumptions about the company so I can tell you more about their newest product, the
ageLOC® Y-Span

The ageLOC® Y-Span is actually the company’s most advanced anti-aging dietary supplement. Our body has natural defense mechanism to fight the effects of aging, but factors like gene expression, and external environment can cause these natural defense mechanisms to decline, therefore possibly accelerating aging in the process. Backed by 30 years of research, the
ageLOC® Y-Span targets the signs of aging at the source by maintaining and supporting the internal activity of body, positively modulating gene expression helping you live younger, longer.

development of ageLOC® Y-Span brings together our latest research and
understanding of the relationship between aging defense mechanisms, gene
expression and nutrition,” said Dr. Joseph Chang, chief scientific
officer at Nu Skin Enterprises. “As we increased our understanding of
gene expression in aging, we were able to select a unique combination of
ingredients that positively impacted the body’s ability to resist aging
and promote the years one can enjoy life being more active, energetic,
and healthy.”

I actually went to the Nu Skin AgeLOC expo to check it out, and I also had myself analyzed to see what my body needs.
The ageLOC® Y-Span is under Nu Skin’s Pharmanex branch. To assess the state of my body, I put my hand on Pharmanex biophotonic scanner and my results were:

I got a low score, which wasn’t surprising because I was under a ton of stress lately, and wasn’t consuming healthy food most of the time.

I was recommended their new product, the
ageLOC® Y-Span. At first I was skeptical because it sounded like your typical multivitamins, but I was wrong.
The ageLOC® Y-Span is a proprietary blend of natural ingredients that have been carefully selected for their unique anti-aging benefits. This unique blend of ingredients would be difficult, if not impossible, to obtain through diet alone, because:

  1. Many of the ingredients are found in food that are commonly available only in certain parts of the world
  2. Personal and cultural preferences may prohibit consuming foods containing the ingredients
  3. Obtaining an efficacious amount of each ingredient twice a day, every day, would be extremely difficult.

ageLOC® Y-Span

Aside from the usual vitamins and minerals,
ageLOC® Y-Span has purple corn extract, alpha lipoic acid, vitamin D, d-limonene, CoQ10, and vitamin K2. Other ageLOC® Y-SPAN ingredients, although found in healthy diets, are often difficult to obtain at similar levels from diet alone, including astaxanthin, rosemary extract, citrus bioflavonoids, resveratrol, EPA, DHA, and quercetin.

ageLOC® Y-Span also takes advantage of a unique capsule technology –
Licap® – that allows for both liquids and solids to be delivered
together in a single hard shell capsule. This technology improves the
bioavailability of fat-soluble ingredients, which help ensure the
delivery of anti-aging benefits.

The ageLOC® Y-Span is a foundational product that supports structures and functions throughout the body by supporting DNA integrity, systemic cytokine responses, and antioxidant protection while promoting healthy brain, eyes, heart, skin, immune function, bones, joints, lipid metabolism, and physical performance.

ageLOC® Y-Span is already available in Philippines starting August 2016. For more information, you can check out their website at or call 8NUSKIN (8687546).

Aside from
ageLOC® Y-Span, I also got to try out and learn more about the other products from Nu Skin during the expo.

Here I am trying out the karada analysis, which kind of saddened me because my fat percentage increased and my muscle mass decreased! It really reminded me to work out more often instead of just jogging around hatching eggs for Pokemon Go. Teehee.

I also tried the ageLOC skincare line, which showed almost instant results. The serum really does tighten, because I could compare my hand with the products, and the bare one.

We also got a preview of the Epoch Essential Oils, arriving on September!

I loved the lavender essential oil because it was so relaxing, and the head massage was just what I needed after a stressful week at work.

I also tested the ageLOC Galvanic Face Spa system and it felt so nice on my skin.

The ageLOC Galvanic Body Spa System was also really great! I was told
that the Galvanic Body Spa device can detect how much fat you need to
trim and determines how many minutes you have to massage it on the
affected body part.

There was also a skin analysis booth, where you can learn about the condition of your skin, if you have dry or oily skin, excessive pigmentation, and wrinkles!

My favorite part of the fair was this booth. Did you know that Nu Skin actually supports charity efforts? The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation, established in 1996, has contributed more than $6 million in 2015 to support children’s causes throughout the world. In 2007, Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund, through Nu Skin Philippines, established a partnership with Child Health in Life and Development Foundation of the Philippine General Hospital to support surgeries of children with heart illnesses.

To date, the company has sponsored operation of over 600 children and
donated medical equipment for the use of the Pediatric Cardiology
Department of the hospital. Since 2002, Nu Skin distributors and
employees have donated more than 500 million meals through Nourish the
Children™ to hungry and malnourished children around the world.

Amazing right? They give back to the community!
