The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf’s Giving Journal 2017: Inspiring you to begin your Giving Journey

With 2016 coming to an close in a few weeks, that only means one thing, it’s planner season yet again! There’s one planner I’m looking forward to getting this season, and it’s the Giving Journal 2017 from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

image

I’ve personally been using CBTL planners since 2014, so this year isn’t any different. Back in college, i would hang out here often for study dates with friends, so it was easy to fill up my planner stamp card. Even if I don’t visit CBTL as often, I do make it a point to collect stamps for a planner each year because I know the proceeds go to a good cause.

image

I also love the message of each Giving Journal, because even if the theme changes each year, the effects stays the same, that is: to serve others.

The theme for this year is: the cup that changes lives. I’ve participated in a few activities with CBTL’s the Caring Cup this year, in partnership with different organizations, and they strive to help more people in the next years to come. The
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® reminds us that life is not about what we
amass for ourselves, but about how we can share our gifts, talents, and
time with others.

image

From October 22 onwards, customers can already
begin their Giving Journey as the collecting of stamps for the 2017
Giving Journal starts in all
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® stores.

They will also be serving the Holiday Featured Beverages (three for this year):

  • Double Chocolate Strawberry Latte
  • Double Chocolate Strawberry Ice Blended
  • Winter Dream Tea Latte

So how do you get the Giving Journal 2017?

Mechanics:

  • Customer must complete a Seasons Givings Giving Journal 2017 stamp card
  • Each stamp card consists of 12 circles with corresponding purchased
    drink assignments.
  • All 12 stamps must be accumulated in one stamp card
    to claim the journal.
  • The 12 stamps consists of: eight (8) stamps for any choice of drink, one (1) tea latte, one (1) original ice blended, one (1) coffee/espresso based beverage, and one (1) holiday featured beverage
  • A box of CBTL™ capsules earns the customer two
stamps, while any CBTL™ Single Serve Beverage System purchase
automatically allows a customer to claim the 2017 Giving Journal.

Tip: If you have or know anyone who has the Giving Journal 2016, the December coupon earns you a double stamp for any drink. Also, you can check out CBTL on social media because they announce double stamp events to help you complete your stamp card faster.

Available
in 4 colors—rose, purple, gray, and turquoise, the Giving Journal is a
useful planner and a medium for generosity where you can begin writing
the beautiful story of your own Giving Journey.

If you’ve noticed, the four planners have different designs, representing Four Icons:

  • Caring Cup Global (Gray) – the Caring Cup initiative aims to give back to farmers and communities, whether it’s providing them a sustainable source of livelihood or education for their children
  • Overflows (Purple) – through CBTL’s efforts and those of their partner organizations, aim to nurture growth and provide a better life for others, one cup at a time
  • Radiating Heart (Pink) – The power to spread goodwill lies within all of us. CBTL lives up to this essence of giving by performing little acts of kindness towards others
  • Coffee Tree Cup (Turquoise) – acknowledge life as one to overflow. Brew your best year by developing yourself, striving to reach your full potential, and sharing your unique gifts and blessings with others.

Through the 2017
Giving Journal, you empower scholars by giving them gift of education
through the Real LIFE Foundation, the Giving Journal’s beneficiary since
2011. By supporting their educational needs, you bring them one step
closer to achieving their goals, enabling their dreams to take flight.

image

Real Life Foundation is the Giving Journal’s primary beneficiary, but CBTL has actually partenered with other organizations throughout the year, and in the years to come. Remember when I blogged about Solar Saturdays?

They also have a partnership with Hope in a Bottle. You can buy the Christmas 2017 bottles in CBTL stores!

Peperoni Pizzeria offers a limited menu this November 2016 (Review)

Pizza is one of my favorite comfort food, along with pasta. I just love Italian food, which is why it’s no surprise that I absolutely enjoy dining at Peperoni Pizzeria.

Peperoni, a Singapore-based pizza franchise, opened its second branch at UP Town Center a few months ago, and they launched a limited edition menu to go with the milestone.

image

I previously posted a Zomato review of my experience at their first branch, with a long list of pizzas I really enjoyed, so I was looking forward to this limited edition menu.

Here’s a sneak peek of my favorite from the limited ed dishes:

Tada! The limited ed Peperoni menu for November:

Portobello Funghi Pizza (Php 595) portobello mushroom, tomato concasse, scallion, egg, truffle oil

Sorry guys, no whole pizza photo, I was late, so I was lucky I even got a slice! haha.Anyway, being someone who loves loves loves loves mushrooms, I was a tad bit disappointed. I expected more earthiness or deep flavor from mushrooms, and more truffle flavor, but those were subtle. Anyhow, I did like how generous they were with the toppings, and the egg balanced everything out.

image

Funghi e Tartufo (Php 440) sauteed shiitake and button mushrooms in truffle cream sauce

This pasta was creamy mushroom perfection. Not kidding. It was a perfect balance of cream, mushroom, herbs and truffle. I liked how it wasn’t too heavy, and I could finish the whole plate even when it’s a cream based pasta.

And my favorite:

image

Foie Gras Pizza (Php 890) foie gras, button mushroom, parma ham, egg, onions, spinach, truffle oil

This one was a blockbuster hit! I could really taste the foie gras, the truffle oil, and the savory goodness of parma ham. They were generous with all of the toppings so the price is definitely worth it. The parma ham was perfectly crispy and added texture to the rustic pizza. All in all, every component blended well to make this one, a pizza flavor to remember.

I loved it so much, I even posted a short video on my instagram for it:

Now after all that cheese, wouldn’t you crave for something sweet to end the meal? Here are some desserts I tried, although not included in the limited ed menu. Yay for yummy desserts available year round!

Desserts:

image

Creme Brulee (Php 240) baked vanilla bean custard, with a layer of caramelized sugar

not too sweet, and torched just right. Custard fans will love this smooth brulee.

image

Tiramisu (Php 275) Savoiardi, layered in mascarpone, flavored with aromatic coffee and kahlua

image

Tortino al Cioccolato (Php 365) rich molten chocolate cake, served with vanilla ice cream.

The Peperoni UP Town Center branch is a bit smaller than the one in Uptown BGC, but equally as cozy. I’m definitely coming back with my family for a Pizza Party to let them try the new dishes!

Urbanize: Equipping Urbanites for Everyday Adventures

Urbanize
aims to be a one-stop shop for every urbanite: whether you’re a weekend warrior, a bus gymnast, a railway athlete, a hip commuter, a
multi-tasking expert, or anything in between.

Just recently, I spent an afternoon at Urbanize’s newest branch at the
3rd Floor of Uptown Mall, BGC, along with some blogger friends, where we checked out what the store had to offer.

I’m a multi-hyphenate: full time regulatory pharmacist, budding tech
startup entrepreneur, lifestyle blogger, not to mention all the other
roles I take up for friends and family. With everything that I do, I
need gadgets, accessories, and other things that would make my everyday activities easier to deal with.

Urbanize carries a lot of of international brands that offer Organization such as Pinqponq® and Focused Space®, Tech Protection of STM® and Security Bags of Pacsafe®  and minimalist bags from Sherpani®.

This bag from Sherpani was actually one of my favorites from all the bag brands in the store. I just loved the colors and structure, especially for this style. A close second would be the Kanken backpack from the travelers’ cult favorite brand Fjall Raven.

They also have the world’s thinnest wallets from Allett® and genuine leather goods from Kiko®, Swisstech® first in key ring tools, and Car Accessories from Highroad® that organizes your car essentials.

Products

Multi Tool, Allett Womens Original Slim Wallet, Elecom Universal Phone
Case

They also have a lot of mobile accessories, their most popular brand being Japan’s No. 1 brand on Mobile Peripherals, Elecom®

Another
favorite from the store are the Artiart® the Suction Mug and tumbler. I was fascinated at how they can really stay put despite all the vigorous disturbances. Teehee. But it’s also easy to get off the table, just pull it upright!

The revelation of the day would have to be the Hydrapak® collapsible water bottle with no-leak™ guarantee. It would be so perfect for travelling, and even for everyday use! It fits even inside my smallest bag, so you can hydrate easily! For anyone concerned a lot with hygiene, it would also be a great container for getting fluids in restaurants, without using the publicly displayed glasses in the middle of a food court, for example. Just pop open your Hydrapak, and fill it up with the service water! Plus, it’s sooo durable. I watched as a full grown man, on the heavy side,  step on a fully filled Hydrapak, and it didn’t burst. Amazeballs.

Foraudiophiles, they also carry Multi-tool Gear and Audio essentials from Mifa® with outdoor ready speakers

So there, that’s just some of the stuff I spotted at Urbanize. I hear they also have other gear like the trendy luggage covers from Loqi, and whole bunch of other things I have yet to discover.  Urbanize definitely has everyone covered, with anything and everything every Urbanite needs to stay mobile, safe, organized and focused.
