Month: December 2015

My Christmas/Birthday Wishlist 2015/2016

I know, I know, I’m pretty late in posting my wishlist, but hey, at least you guys have an idea on what I like/need and what to give someone who’s very like me. Plus, my birthday’s coming up in a few months, so I’m making my friends and family’s lives much easier by doing this. Haha. *Hopes they read this*

When people asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I didn’t really know what I want. I listed down random things that popped into my head for the exchange gift wishlists, instead of really thinking about what I wanted or needed. After giving it some thought, and doing some Christmas shopping for my gifts to family and friends, I finally came up with a list. This time around, it’s well thought of.

Click read more to see which stuff I’ve been lusting after this holiday season.

1. Mirrorless Camera

My Nikon DSLR really is a bit heavy to lug around during events, so I’ve been thinking about joining the mirrorless revolution. I’ve been torn between the Fujifilm X-A2 and the Canon EOS M3. What I love about both models is that you can flip the screens for selfies, and use them for video self recording. This one is very important for me if I want to do Youtube videos in the future.

Fujifilm X-A2

Recently, Fujifilm released a lot of new colors for the X-A2, including pink, mint green, among others. The mint green one is especially pretty. The X-A2 is on sale too, I think they slashed off about 2,500 from it’s retail price.

Canon EOS M3

The Canon EOS M3 gives a bigger advantage in the lens department. If you are a longtime Canon DSLR user, you can actually use the same lens on the mirrorless camera, just buy the adapter.

2. Luggage Cover

I’ve been travelling more this year, and I hope to continue that in the years to come. To avoid the laglag bala or tanim bala airport scam that’s trending recently, it’s good to invest on pretty and practical luggage covers.

Inside Out and City of Dreams luggage covers from Trendcrafters, Inc.

These luggage covers from Trendcrafters, Inc. are affordable and can be customized with names or even phrases. Their current bestseller is the Inside Out design, with Anger in front, and Sadness at the back of the luggage cover.

Luggage covers from Loqi and Wanderskye

I first saw these Loqi Tokyo and Paris luggage covers while shopping around Orchard Road during my recent trip to SG. After doing my Christmas shopping in the malls here, I was pleasantly surprised to find out Urbanize actually carries it, along with other travel brands. For the Wanderskye ones, I’ve seen them at some bazaars throughout the year, and spotted a few design being sold on Lazada.

3. Scratch Map

Again something travel related. I already have a nice world map in my room, but this scratch map is even better. I saw one of these at Quirks SM Aura, and almost bought it, then picked a travel wallet over it instead. *puss in boots eyes please get me thiiiiissss*

4. Vanity Mirror

The lighting in my room sucks. Seriously. I have a really hard time blending my makeup when the lighting on both sides of my faces are uneven. A vanity mirror would make my beauty regimen so much easier, not to mention it’s waaay cheaper than a ringlight. I initially wanted a ringlight, but realized it’s over my budget. haha

5. Watercolor Paints / Supplies

After learning watercolor lettering during the CBTL Giving Journal 2016 launch, I bought a waterbrush and a small watercolor palette at the nearby bookstore a few days after. It was so much fun, but the watercolor palette I was able to buy was nothing compared to the quality of the Kuretake Gansai watercolor I was able to try out during the workshop.

Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor Set of 36 colors

This one has amazing quality and pigmentation, plus the colors are sooo nice. i also received a nice adult coloring book for Christmas, so I wanted to practice my watercolor on that as well. *please please please get me this, pretty pretty pleeease*

6. An All-Around Bag

My tan leather all around bag recently gave up one me, so I’m on the lookout for it’s replacement. This one from Longchamp is very classy, and goes well with anything. Must visit the Longchamp flagship store in greenbelt to find out which size would suit me best.

Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir Small or Medium in Black, Gray or Navy Blue

7. Leather Jacket

My leather jacket ripped during my trip to Seoul Korea last year, and I haven’t found a replacement since. This one from Stradivarius can be candidate, but I’m still looking for other options.

8. Boxing Gear

My friends and I have recently started a Sunday boxing ritual, after realizing we all got fat after our travels. HAHA. So I’m thinking of investing in boxing gloves and wraps, since we regularly go to the gym anyway.

That’s it, for now. What do you think of my wishlist? Do we have anything in common? Do you have any of these?

photos mostly from Pinterest and from the official sites of the products.

Happy Holidays and a Blessed new Year to you and your family!!!

BYS x Glamourbox: Why you shouldn’t miss out on this collab

Being the practical makeup enthusiast that I am, I was always hesitant to subscribe to those trending beauty boxes. I just wasn’t sold on the idea of paying monthly for random beauty items which I may or may not be able to use. Being on social media though, and seeing all these unboxing videos and posts does make me a whole lot curious with what exactly makes this trend addicting.

A few months ago, I finally got the chance to try out Glamourbox, which was one of the more popular box subscription sites to date. My timing was perfect, because I loved the two boxes I got to check out!

For the holidays, Glamourbox collaborated with BYS cosmetics yet again for BYS Matte Maven box (I’ll show you guys what they had for their first collab last September later on in this post). To be honest, even before Glamourbox, I already liked BYS. I only got to try their lipsticks, blushes and eyeliners, but I was already amazed by the staying power, pigmentation and surprisingly affordable price points.

For the unacquainted, BYS is fully designed and developed in Melbourne Australia and exported worldwide. BYS aims to satisfy every type of woman

with products that doesn’t just follow current trends, but also create them.

Now we move on to the Glamourbox collabs!

“Mattes have taken over this season, and we can’t wait to bring you this makeup stash filled with matte must haves that can create a variety of muted looks! Sculpt and enhance those features, you’ll look great from dusk ‘til dawn.” – Glamourbox Team

What I love most about the BYS x Glamourbox collab is that each box is filled with full-sized products, so you really get more than your money’s worth.

At the Glamourbox website, they list down what the box of the month contains:

1. BYS Contour and Highlighting Kit in Goddess (Php 1099)

Description: This kit contains skin-flattering tones to define and sculp facial
features. Blends effortlessly into skin and provides an expert finish
every time.

other Glamourbox option: Darling

Thoughts: This palette is huge!!!! It’s bigger than the standard Glamourbox box, so it was actually outside the box when I received it. Every shade is highly pigmented, and the instructions at the back are really helpful.

2. BYS Matte Eyeshadow 8 Palette Neutrals (Php 449)

Description: Contains 8 perfectly curated, easy to wear neutral shades to take your
look from day to night. The silky smooth formula offers a true, rich
color payoff every time.

Thoughts: This one is just the right size to tote around in your daily makeup kit. Because of the matte formula, it stays long, and reduces shine. It’s also perfect for day to night events by just building on the color.

3. BYS Matte Lipstick in Latte to Go (Php 299)

Swipe this richly pigmented matte lippie on those kissers for an instant lip pick-me-up!

Thoughts: a bit drying, but very very pigmented. It’s a great nude lip for that Kylie Jenner vibe. Swipe on a lip balm first before application.

BYS Liquid Brow Pen in Natural Brown (Php 449)

This waterproof liquid brow pen provides natural-looking brow color that
lasts all day. It can be used as a base or to fill in sparse areas for a
fuller look with the promise of no messy wax or powder build up.

other Glamourbox option: Light Brown

Thoughts: easy enough to control, just don’t build up too much or your brows will end up looking too strong. Use it to draw on your brows, then distribute the color with a spooley to make it look more natural.

BYS Eyeliner Gel with Brush in Black Magic (Php 549)

Description: This fabulous kit is everything you need to create winged eyeliner
perfection! Just dip the angled design brush into the pot of rich black
colour and perfectly lined eyes will be yours in seconds!

Thoughts: The brush it comes with makes it easy to create a winged tip, while the formula is surprisingly waterproof. Great for a night out.

BYS Matte Nail Enamel in Aqua (Php 199)

You will love this quick-drying nail polish with a Matte finish. Long
lasting color which glides on velvety smooth but dries to a super flat
finish giving you that chic look. A must have in your beauty bag!

Other Glamourbox options: various matte polish shades

The total? A whopping Php 3,044 for just Php 1,100 via Glamourbox!!

Next up is a feature on the easily sold out BYS Makeup Pro box!!

BYS Nude Eye Shadow Palette Nude 1 or 2 (Php 1,199)

Let your eyes do the talking with these timeless neutrals to take you
from day to night. Beauty junkies and newbies will love these smooth,
velvety and highly pigmented eye shadows encased in a gorgeous sleek

Thoughts: these are deadringers for the very popular Naked palettes. They’re great dupes, each shadow is very pigmented, lasts long, and blends well. It may be overwhelming to look at sooo many colors in a palette, but you actually section it into quads. Pick a quad for whichever matches your look for the day. I’d pick the last four shades for nights out, while the first four shades I’d wear for work.

BYS Brow Definition Kit (Php 399)

Description: Redefine your brow game with this BYS Brow Definition Kit, which
contains an eyebrow wax to tidy and prime your brow hair, plus 3 brow
powders you can mix and match to create the perfect brow color.

Thoughts: This is my current favorite brow product. There are instructions at the back, the wax makes the brow hair strands stay put, and serve as primer for the powder to stick on. I usually just put on a mix of the two brown shades, and use the black powder for a smokey eye.

3. BYS Blush Duo Miss Pink or Paint it Pink (Php 349)

Add a pop of pink to those cheeks with this versatile blush duo.

Now they ran out of the Blush Duo, which is a bummer, but I was pretty okay with replacing it with this Jumbo Liquid Eyeliner Pen

BYS Contour Trio in 02 Sweet (Php 449)

Description: Serve that face with something sweet! This handy palette contains 3
universally flattering shades; one to color your cheeks, one for
highlighting your best features, and one for contouring. This recently
won Cosmopolitan Magazine’s 2015 Beauty Awards!

Thoughts: A super handy contour blush palette, it has also turned into a staple in my makeup kit. The peach pink blush gives a natural flush, while the highlight and contour powders are easy to blend and sculpt.

BYS Matte Lipstick Salsa Tango or Celebrity Status (Php 299)

Swipe this richly pigmented matte lippie on those kissers for an instant lip pick-me-up!

Thoughts: Long wearing, no need for frequent touch ups even after eating.

BYS Nail Polish Assorted Shades (Php 199)

Paint on some gorgeous color with this bright and smooth nail lacquer to instantly glam up any look!

I personally liked the September box better because everything was just super wearable! Of course, if you’re a matte finish type of girl you’d love the holiday box better.

Which box did you like best?

Check out Glamourbox for subscription details, hurry before they run out of the BYS Matte Maven Box. Remember, the September one sold out fast!!!!

10 Techie Christmas Gifts for Everyone in Your Life

Since it’s Christmas, some of you guys might have noticed my season appropriate posts, especially the gift suggestions. Starting off with my gift suggestions for your girl squad, to a very convenient method of gift giving. This time around, I’m doing a list on something out-of-the-box, suggesting tech/digital accessories as Christmas gifts.

Admittedly, I’m not good with techie stuff, with my gadgets, I just look at basic specs, and functionality, but never going into the most minute details. So yeah, half the time I’m clueless with what to give to my millennial fitness buff cousin, tech-savvy guy bff, or music-fanatic officemate.

For this post, I sought the help of Beyond the Box and Digital Walker, the premium gadget and tech accessories retailers in the metro, and listed down their bestsellers this year 2015 as great gift suggestions. Designed to unleash creativity and tailored to complement the modern digital lifestyle, you’re assured that anyone receiving any of these will be a happy camper.

Beyond the Box and Digital Walker’s Best of 2015:

1. FitBit Charge HR (Php 6,999)

“This powerful portable device is sure to keep you in tip-top shape by letting you know things like how your heart is doing and by monitoring the calories you burn. Just don’t expect it to let you know if your heart’s finally beating for the right one.”

Recommended for: Gym buddies, girlfriends, or even your mom who’s trying to ease into a fitter lifestyle. It comes in a variety of colors, and this mint green one will surely make your recipient very happy.

2. FitBit Surge (Php 12,899)

“Put it on and feel the surge — to cut back on the calories! With heart rate monitoring, GPS, call and text notification features, and music controls, the Fitbit Surge will do all these things AND keep you from overeating this holiday season.”

Recommended for: your brother or dad who’s attempting to get fit after the holiday parties, your boyfriend, gymrat friends or relatives. It’s a bulkier Fitbit watch, and has more features.

3. Braven Balance (Php 5,850)

“Whether it’s a dip in the pool or a trip to the arctic, no environment is too harsh for the Braven Balance! Take these waterproof speakers with you anytime and anywhere during your holiday trips.”

Recommended for: your audiophile barkada, beach bums, athletic swimmer friends, etc. This one is perfect for group vacations, so I strongly suggest gifting it to your travel buddies, so you can all listen to great tunes on the road or at the beach.

4. I Am Cardboard V2 (Php 900)

“Who ever said that travelling to alternate universes can only be done through magic portals? All you need is your Smartphone and a Cardboard and you’re in for a wild virtual reality ride!”

Recommended for: your gamer friends and relatives, tech geeks, virtual reality fans. The first of its kind here, it makes for the perfect one-of-a-kind gift, that includes an out of this world experience.

5. Fuse Chicken Titan (Php 1,950)

“Keep your holidays tangle-free. This steel-clad Lightning to USB cable won’t fray or break even if Santa accidentally trips over it on his way to the Christmas tree. Sorry Santa.”

Recommended for: friends and family with smartphones. Basically almost everyone. My lightning cords don’t last long, and a lot of people experience the same thing, so anyone getting this for Christmas would be very grateful for your practical gift.

6. Coloud Hoop (Php 1, 495)

“These brightly colored headphones are for hip urban adventurers and people who just can’t keep still. Don’t worry, they won’t fall off. Just don’t let Rudolph nibble them all away.”

Recommended for: gym buffs, hikers, triathletes, mostly those who do strenuous outdoor activities or extreme sports. A friend of mine uses this, and no matter how many spins he does on his skateboard, it doesn’t fall off.

7. Urbanears Sumpan (Php 1,650)

“These earphones are so vividly colorful and cool, you won’t even need to gift-wrap them. With a wash-and-wear design and behind-the-neck hook function, the Urbanears Sumpan are light as a feather so you can go go go while you ho-ho-ho!”

Recommended for: ANYONE. The range of colors of this product is very wide. You can even gift it to every person in your barkada, just match them to their favorite color.

8. Jaybird Bluebirds X (Php 8,950)

“Jog your way to winter wonderland while grooving to timeless yuletide tunes! The Jaybird bluebirds X delivers high-audio performance in a sporty sweat-proof package and can play catchy tunes for as long as 8 hours.”

9. Marshall Stockwell (approx Php 10,470)

“If you’re always out and about, take this tenacious travel speaker with you. It comes with manual controls and can play for 25 hours straight. Plus vintage never really gets old.”

Recommended for: hipster friends and relatives, your boss, your bff or boyfriend. With its vintage sleek design, it’s luxe enough to be gifted to your boss, chip in with your team so it doesn’t put such a big dent to your pocket.

10. Marshall Kilburn (Php 16,950)

“Just imagine how lovely this retro-licious speaker will look underneath the Christmas tree and how good your music will sound during all of your Christmas parties! Take these gorgeous portable speakers to whichever Christmas event you please and be the life of every get-together.”

Recommended for: lolo and lola techie, anyone in your family, barkada. The retro feel on this one is good enough to make your grandparents giddy. Take it as a good bonding time between you guys when you teach them how to use it, and take selfies while in the process. It’s also a great speaker to bring to reunions and other get-togethers because of the amazing sound quality.

There you have it, my tech gift suggestions. What do you think about my list?

“Eeeeep!!! I’m not yet done with my Christmas shopping and I can’t get out of the house because of traffic/weather/lack of time/other reasons!”

Who else is stuck with the same dilemma? All too familiar right? With the crazy Christmas rush traffic, as well as the human traffic inside malls, the harsh weather, time constraints, add to that the pressure of finding gifts that matter. It’s way too much stress over the most wonderful time of the year.

It is because of these reasons that Gifted.PH was born. A simple, easy, practical and personal way of giving gift cards online; made out of the desire to help people be more thoughtful despite their busy schedules. The first of its kind in the Philippine market, Gifted is an online gift card website where you can send personalized gift cards online to anyone, anytime, anywhere at your convenience.

The gift card can be sent to your recipient for free via email, and they simply needs to print and present it in the store. Another option is to have it shipped in a small memorable gift box.

It is the digital age after all, and with the flourish of e-commerce websites, Gifted just rises above it all because it does away with the agonizing steps of choosing a specific item of the right color, size, and whatnot. Instead, it gives you the option of picking from their roster of trusted brands, then giving your recipient the joy of choosing the product or service they really want. It’s a win-win situation!

Gifted.PH currently has with over 80 of the Philippines’ well-loved brands such as the Bench group (both international and local brands), Fully Booked and Shangri-La Makati Circles Events Café. Favorite dishes can now be sent as gifts through Gifted’s wide range of popular restaurants like Chelsea Grand Café, Saboten, Museum Café, Gino’s Brick Oven Pizza and Alba’s.

At Gifted, you can now give gifts that are not easy to give but which people truly appreciate receiving: Whether it is a gown from Rosanna Ocampo’s latest collection, jewelry from Cura V, a travel adventure experience from Uncharted Philippines, a short cooking course from Enderun Colleges, fitness goals from Benel Archery or Bliss Yoga shoes from Twinky or Le Bunny Bleu, beauty products or a facial from VMV Hypoallergenics, fun novelty items from Quirks, or even hair extensions from D&V Hairpieces.

Here are the brands currently available at the website:

Gift Card for Money

With Gifted, you can also send Gift Certificates for Money, essentially the gift of money deposited into your recipient’s bank account.  Whether it is money for a new gadget, a special gown, a honeymoon trip or college tuition, you can help achieve someone’s dream by gifting them a portion of the funds they need.

Another unique thing about Gifted? Is how it takes into account our loved ones abroad. Gifted is also a great way for Overseas Filipinos or those who live far away to stay in touch. Instead of wiring money impersonally or missing important milestones altogether, you can now send a thoughtful gift card and be on time with your gifts despite being thousands of miles away.

With Gifted.PH being a great way to save time, not get stuck in traffic, and still be able to give thoughtful gifts, it wins me over. A great plus is, their payment methods are secure, so bid those credit card scam worries goodbye!

Reveal fresh and glowing skin with Myra VitaWhite and VitaSmooth Facial Wash (Review)

If there’s one thing I always say about beauty, it’s that you always have to invest on good skincare products! It doesn’t matter how great you are at doing makeup if the canvas (your skin) isn’t great.

On top is my skincare musts is investing on a good cleanser. I prefer foam types because they’re easy to apply, and the foam is soothing to massage on the face. Recently, I got samples of the new Myra VitaSmooth and VitaWhite facial washes, and so far, I’m not disappointed.

Myra® VitaSmooth and VitaWhite Facial Wash are multi-benefit products and are the only facial wash in the market with Vitamin E beads to help keep skin healthy and nourished while riding skin of excess oil and dirt.

Consistent with the whole Myra line, the beads are present in the foam, and you can actually see the gold/amber colored beads clearly in every pea-sized amount.

I actually first found out about the product because I found the ads all over the internet and on social media. Myra recently got the beautiful Kylie Padilla as endorser for their facial wash. She’s so perfect for the brand because her look is so refreshing!

I found this video online and she looks so pretty, and you know, with well cleansed skin. She looks like she doesn’t have pores! haha.

Anyhoo, after watching the vid, I’m sure you guys would want to know more about the product, so I did a run down of the features of the products and a short review at the end.

Myra® VitaWhite Facial Wash 50mL – Whitening Facial Wash (Php 75)

The Claim:

Deeply cleanses skin and rids it from dirt and excess oil while making skin look naturally white in as early as 7 days.

  • Enriched with antioxidant Vitamin E  beads which protect and nourish skin to help keep it healthy with a youthful glow.
  • Has Biowhite Complex which is derived from plant extracts that gently whitens skin
  • Has Niacinamide that evens out skin tone by reducing red blotches to make skin more radiant.
  • as with other products from Myra®, it is hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested to be safe for everyday use.

Myra® VitaSmooth Facial Wash 50mL – Moisturizing Facial Wash (Php 70)

The Claim:

Deeply cleanses skin and rids it from dirt and excess oil while maintaining skin’s natural moisture to help keep it healthy, soft, and young looking.

  • Enriched with antioxidant Vitamin E  beads which protect and nourish skin to help keep it healthy with a youthful glow
  • Has Moisture Plus formula that retains and seals in skin’s natural moisture, keeping it hydrated and more supple.
  • Contains French Spring Sea Water and Aloe Vera Extract that improves skin elasticity and helps keep it smooth and young-looking
  • as with other products from Myra®, it is hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested to be safe for everyday use.

Directions for Use:

  1. Squeeze pea sized amount onto your palm
  2. Lather with water
  3. Gently massage over wet face and neck
  4. Rinse thoroughly with water

  • For some reason, VitaWhite is thicker and stickier than VitaSmooth, although they both lather up really nicely.
  • a small amount goes a long way, giving you more value for money
  • I haven’t really observed the fast whitening power of VitaWhite, but my friends say that it does leave a soft glow after cleansing
  • they both take off makeup okay, but don’t do well with long wearing or waterproof makeup
  • non-drying, I think it’s because of the Vitamin E beads you can clearly see in each pea-sized portion
  • affordable, lightweight, and nice enough packaging

Will I repurchase?

I actually might. I like how it doesn’t dry out my face after, and doesn’t sting. It’s good for sensitive skin, and maybe for those who’ve just finished some treatments on the face. All in all, I would recommend it if you’re looking for a nice affordable facial wash to switch to if your old one isn’t working for you.

For more information on these products, you can visit these links from Unilab for VitaSmooth and VitaWhite. You can also check them out on Facebook.

What do you think of the new Myra facial washes? Have you tried them?
