USOplus: Trendy Pieces at the Push of a Button

I love online shopping, in fact I prolly spend ¼ of my time online browsing different e-commerce sites. For fashion items though, there can be a few difficulties with online shopping, especially when most sites use Caucasian models, which make it difficult to estimate sizes.

Enter, the newest online shopping website to hit thePhilippines. Carrying popular brands from Taiwan, Japan and Korea, each piece is distinctively Asian, with a Western appeal.

Ever watched a K-drama and wondered where you can get that star’s pretty long sleeved top, cute printed skirt, or romantic dainty accessories? Instead of scouring the web for Korean sites (and having difficulty understanding the language), USOplus has saved you the hassle and put together those brands all in one easy to use e-commerce website. With functional, fashionable and very wearable peieces, USOplusis giving women access to a style for every story, delivered straight
to your doorstep.

I was able to attend USOplus’ official launch a week ago, and here’s a recap of what happened:

Upon arrival, guests are ushered to the dressing room area, where we get to see, fit and get a feel of what USOplus has to offer. After scanning the racks, I actually picked up a lot of pieces that I liked.

There were a lot of pastel pieces, as well as floral, printed and lacy numbers, so I was a bit overwhelmed with the options, because they were mostly my style!

Afterwards, we were treated to makeovers! I haven’t worn this much makeup since my college grad pictorial, so I was very excited.

All that preparation was for a fun shoot after, where Joseph Pascual would take our photos.

While waiting for my turn for the shoot, I walked around the venue and took photos.

With a setup as colorful as this, who wouldn’t have dun? I mean hello, balloons, confetti and flower puffs? Happiness!!!

They also had this cute candy snack spread, and everything was just adorable.

I also got to try three flavors from Taiwanese popcorn brand, Planet Studio. That seaweed flavor is super yummy!

Before my turn for the photoshoot, the program began. The lovely Nicole Andersson was the host for the afternoon, and for a generally nonresponsive audience, she did well with engaging the challenging crowd.

The opening remarks were given by Mr. Wayne Chi, President of TID Group and USOplus. With
presence of over 19 years and 126 branches in the Philippines, the
TID Group, a company originating from Taiwan, offering 3C (computer,
consumer electronics, and communication) products, repair services,
and digital music services, decided to invest in E-commerce. Together
with the Taiwanese Online Business Crew, they brought to the
Philippines. He had a translator with him, but I was glad that I was able to understand most of his speech. My 13 years of Mandarin Chinese education actually helped me!

Mr. Ni, Director of Taipei Economic and
Cultural Office in the Philippines talked about Taiwan’s full
support of USOplus’ expanding business. He even made fun of himself by telling everyone that he should have worn better clothes had he known everyone looked so good that day. He even thought he misrepresented the brand by wearing a boring corporate suit. He did promise that he weould wear something more acceptable next time. Haha.

captures, in an instant, the way couture has taken itself to the
streets – by transforming the whimsy of unwearable runway designs
into efficient, but no less stylish, street wear. The brand offers a
unique mix of handpicked Korean and Japanese styles, to provide an
exceptional and unique shopping experience for every customer.

Ms. Ruby Hung, CEO of
USOplus shares, “We’re giving fashion enthusiasts more options and
convenience, straight from their fingertips to their front door.”

not enough to just provide a wide selection of items,” says Hung.
“It’s about providing high-quality products that are priced
fairly and shipped to you with a click of button. We want to make it
easy for everyone who loves fashion to get these pieces into their
wardrobes,” she adds.

all about convenience—all within the context of functional but
still perfectly stylish fashion,” ends Hung.

With that the program ended with a toast to the success of On stagefor the taost were (L-R)
Director of Taiwan Trade in Manila Mr. Lan, TID Group and USOplus
President Mr. Wayne Chi, USOplus CEO Ms. Ruby Hung, Supervisor of
Industry Development Augmentation Division in Taiwain Ms. Lai, and

They also had these laptops at the event so everyone could experience shopping at USOplus right then and there.

carries the latest styles, from footwear to apparel, bags, and even
accessories. The brand aims to be a one-stop-shop for all women’s
fashion needs by making their collection of wearable and stylish
products available online, with multi-delivery services that ensure
everyone gets quality products in the most convenient way possible.

collections feature varying looks that will fit numerous aesthetics,
but are still anchored on a style sensibility that is meant to stand
the test of time. This does not only refer to designs that will
weather changing fashion trends, but it also speaks of the quality of
the different pieces.

I find easy to navigate. Products can easily be filtered by category,
style, size, brand, color, or pricing. The ecommerce site guides
consumers every step of the way, from choosing the payment method up
to delivery type. They have both credit card and cash on delivery for payment option, and have free shipping via LBC, Air21 and Ximen Delivery Express (XDE). In the future, they will have the option of picking up your package in Wellcome convenience stores throughout the country.

With items ranging from accessories, to clothing, bags, and shoes, USOplus carries popular Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese brands OB
Design, STARMIMI, EYESCREAM, Ruby’s Collection, Basic, and so much more.

USOplus upholds the ultimate shopping experience – beginning with the wide selection of fashionable and functional products – down to the simplicity with which you can pay for your purchases and have them delivered to you.

After the program, it was my turn to shoot! First the BTS photos:

Had fun with Carizza at the shoot, the confetti was all over us!

Then tada! Scroll down to see how the photos turned out:

I trooped over to the dessert buffet after the shoot, and there were just too many yummy pastries, cakes, and fruits!

Ava was there as well, I even let her borrow my shoes because the ones she had on didn’t go with her chosen USOplus outfit!

Makeup Magazine: The New Beauty Bible

Everything I know about beauty, from skincare to makeup, I’ve learned through reading magazines, books, and amazing Youtube gurus. I can’t even remember how many hours I’ve spent watching videos just to do a proper winged line, or read books just to know how many beauty tools we really need. Most people though, don’t have the same patience as I do, and want to learn about things in the quickest, most convenient way possible.

Makeup Magazine does just that by being the only magazine in the country with a niche on dissecting the enigmatic topic of beauty while being an easy read.

Only about 20 pages, it’s very easy to read from cover to cover, and spans a variety of topics. With everything said, what else sets this magazine apart from other glossies?

A few weeks ago, I went to an intimate gathering of beauty enthusiasts, from bloggers, makeup artists, to celebrities. We were treated to a lovely afternoon of good food and conversations over makeup.

At the event, I was so excited to learn that Kim Jones Rosales is the Editor-in-chief for Makeup Magazine. I’m a big fan of her beautiful Instagram feed, and the magazine also has the same aesthetic, clean, simple, but always making a statement.

Kim shares, “We at Makeup Magazine are really focusing on promoting and sharing beauty inside and out—from spotlighting inspirational cover girls to deciphering concealers. We want to create a magazine where women can be inspired to be themselves, try something new, and experience makeup in a fun way!”

I got to read the Jan-Feb issue with Jessy Mendiola cover, and I must say, MAKEUP Magazine stays true to its mission of being everyone’s quick dose of timely beauty solutions for every occasion. They regularly feature celebrity beauty regimens, with an intimate approach no other magazine has done before. I for one have always been curious as to how these celebrities always manage to look perfect on TV, so reading about these tips and tricks make me looking forward to which celebrity they will feature next.

Joining her at the event is her on screen BFF, Patti Grandidge, who was also the cover girl for the Nov-Dec 2014 issue.

How cute are these pink loot bags?

I also got to win a few goodies for the Instagram game!!

Makeup magazine is the flagship title for Flair Publishing, focusing on empowering women through beauty and wellness by engaging in various makeup and fashion trends.

Makeup Magazine is currently available in National Bookstore for only Php 99, and as a digital mag available for download in the Buqo app.

Got to catch up with these girl at the event:

L-R: Shebby, Kim and Celline

Congratulations to the Makeup Magazine Team for the successful launch!

Seize the Summer

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” -Terry Pratchett

I’m so excited to go away with my loved ones for this season! Hopefully some beach trips push through, I’m raring for some saltwater!

The colors of this look remind me so much of summer! red, oranges, ad yellows for the sun, and greens and blues for the sea. I decided to put them all in one outfit to embrace this fun season!

Speaking of seizing the summer, have you joined our Bali, Indonesia trip giveaway with Vaseline yet?

All you have to do is:

1. Post your best summer photo in Instagram or twitter
2. Complete this statement: I will #SeizeTheSummer with @vaselinePH’s serum by _________________________.
3. Add the hashtags #TeamBALIbaes #SeizeTheSummer

You can post as MANY entries as you like. (Make sure your posts are set to public!) Giveaway ends March 25th, good luck!
#TeamBaliBaes #VaselinePH @VaselinePH #SeizeTheSummer #Clozette @ClozetteCo

Anyway back to my outfit, I didn’t go all out with the splash of colors because that would look tacky. My bag was already bright colored, so I stuck to white for my top to tone it down. It also helps that my skirt and shoes have muted tones of blue and green, so the complement the bag instead of go against it.

If you can’t tell, my outfit is extremely comfy, so I goofed around a lot when we were shooting.

Still, I had to do some decent shots. Good thing Ben has some mad skills, else these photos wouldn’t turn out this beautiful.

What are you excited for this summer?

As for me, I’m hoping these pieces go on sale:

dubbed, blogger lens, this one is sooo perfect for ootd shots!

<<p>This one’s my favorite scent at the moment, and the packaging is so adorable too, cherry blossoms!

A jelly bag that’s in this summer! I’m already imagining taking this to our beautiful beaches.

I’m currently obsessed with white footwear, and this one just drew me back in. I lovethe simplicity of the design, and how easy it would be to pair it with different outfits!

This one’s another travel must, I love how chic the backpack looks.

Also for summer, this cover up just goes well with the sea! I mean look at the colors!

I don’t have a nice one piece swimsuit yet, so if this one goes on sale, I’m definitely buying!

Lazada invited some of us bloggers for an intimate celebration of this 3rd anniversary, and we got to meet Inanc Balci, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lazada Philippines.

“We are delighted to be celebrating our third year of rapid growth this month. Where to Next?

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks – on your body or on your heart – are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.” – Anthony Bourdain

My favorite channel on cable TV is TLC, I always find it fascinating to watch Anthony Bourdain traverse around the world for specialty local cuisines, while imparting snippets of wisdom between glasses of good wine. I am always amazed at how these hosts travel around the world and always manage to get their message across despite language barriers. The scenic spots they go to, the wonderful people they meet, and the beautiful memories made, I want that.

Last year, I was able to go to 2 international destinations, as well as few domestic tourist locations. I plan to travel more, experience different cultures, step under the warm glow of the sun at a place I’ve never been to.

My dream destination would be the city of Prague in Czech Republic. I’ve seen photos of the beautiful old European city, and watched some films featuring it, and I fell in love with the old majestic vibe of the city.

A lot of people are intimidated by the idea of travelling to Europe, I don’t blame them, because getting there certainly will cost you. I don’t think about it that way though, getting to Prague is one of my dreams, and I’ll take small steps to achieve that dream. Saving up for airfare is just one of those small steps, the next one is, finding accommodations. Finding a place to stay in an unfamiliar place is a challenge, especially on a DIY itinerary. There is an abundance of websites for hotel bookings, but on a budget, we need other options.

While sharing my travel woes with friends, one of them suggested Airbnb, because she found affordable accommodations for her different travels last year. She swears by the convenience of Airbnb, so I decided to give it a try.

I was on Airbnb the other day, and I was amazed by the myriad of options available to every kind of traveler.

Airbnb guarantees every wanderlust soul this experience:

“Whether an apartment for a night, a castle for a week, or a villa for a month, Airbnb connects people to unique travel experiences, at any price point, in more than 34,000 cities and 192 countries.

At that, I searched for possible options if i were to go to Prague. after going through the listings, this one caught my attention:

Luxury 210 sq. m. Flat

For only Php 8378 per night, the flat can accommodate up to 8 people, making it perfect for families or big groups. I love how its interiors are a fusion of rustic and modern, perfect for my personality. It also has this beautiful view of a nearby bridge and castle! The apartment has the basic amenities of a hotel room, as well as Wifi and a hot tub! The kitchen is especially good for the nights you just want to stay in and cook using local produce, and prolly get a few tips from the locals on their dining staples.

From the reviews of this place, I’d say the host is friendly and reliable as well, being able to pick up guests from the airport, as well as recommend places to visit, and go as far as to tour these guests himself.

Airbnb definitely was a pleasant surprise to me, I didn’t expect the prices to be more affordable than hotels, hostels or other bed and breakfasts. Some of the options even have very nice architectural details you won’t find elsewhere.

While I was at it, I also looked up listings in Taipei, Taiwan. My friends and I will be going there this May to visit another friend studying medicine there. Hopefully, my Taiwan visa gets approved early so I can start relaxing about the trip. 🙂

Anyway, I can’t decide between these two very different apartments:

Modern Minimalist 2 Bedroom Apartment in Zhongshan District

I was definitely attracted to this one because of the minimalist decoration, and how big the space looks. There’s definitely a lot of room, so we can have more people over for games or casual parties. For Php 4574 a night, it beats some hotel rooms I was previously looking into. Air-conditioning and internet are both available, which is good, as well as the essential features like bathrooms, basic electric appliances, and toiletries. The building of the apartment also has elevators and a doorman so I guess it makes this one a safe choice.

Dainty Antique Apartment in Shilin District

This cute apartment is another option because of its cozy interiors and very warm atmosphere. The apartment is spacious, and can accommodate me and my friends, without extra charge. Location wise it’s near to MRT stations and a nearby night market, which is on my itinerary. There’s already warning about climbing flights of stairs so we just have to pack light. Both air conditioning and wifi are also available for use. Extra points for the host for being a good tour guide, friendly and being a very pleasant roomie.

I’ll give it a few more thoughts and finalize my booking after I get my visa, but I’ll definitely book a listing on Airbnb. I encourage you to sign up with my referral link, and get around Php 1k worth of credits, just for joining!

To join the conversation about Airbnb, use the hashtags: #WhereToNext #Airbnb #AirbnbPH

So you’ve got airfare and accommodations down, now what about your wardrobe?

This look is actually my default airport look, because it’s easy to style. It tends to get chilly in airports and planes, so I always bring a jacket with me to keep me warm. If you’re travelling to a colder country, keeping a pair of tights would be wise so you can put it on after you get off the plane. It’s really toasty with our climate, so we have to find ways to adjust our clothing without getting uncomfortable.

I’ve just booked two flights this year, and I’m sooo excited for them! Cheers to more trips!

This bag is actually from the Rags 2 Riches Ampersand collection, which I featured in this post. I love how it looks small but I can really fill it with soo many things! It’s perfect for my travels because I can put my DSLR and instax cameras, travel journal, passport, wallet, umbrellas, disposable raincoat, tourist maps and guides, and even extra clothes!

You’ll definitely see more of this bag in future travel posts. 🙂

Where are you going this season?

Vista Residences: Student Living Redefined

Not too long ago, I was a student navigating through the the very lively Taft Avenue. Every school day, I would endure the crazy traffic, pollution, throngs of people and unpredictable weather, just to get to and from school. Because of this, a lot of my friends decided to stay in dorms or condos just to get rid of the hassle to get to school. I almost begged my family to do the same, because of the convenience a nearby residence would give. Instead of just thinking about exams, school projects, laboratory reports, I just didn’t want to deal with the stress of travelling to school.

Now that that’s all over, it’s a huge relief that I don’t have to go through all that, but here comes the new challenge of getting to my workplace in busy Makati. But that’s another story.

Enter Vista Residences, with their “University Series” condos, which are a stone’s throw away from the top universities in the country. Vista aims to enrich a student’s lifestyle by being easily accessible and having features like E-libraries and study pods. Vista is actually the first development to introduce these features, sticking to its mission to provide an environment more suitable to a student’s lifestyle, a step up from the usual condos.

At the Vista Residences University series launch, we were treated to a few intermission numbers, one from this high school cheering squad, and the other a colorful number by dancers wearing costumes suited with LED lights.

VistaResidences has four standing university projects:  CrownTower University Belt launched in 2005, Vista 309 Katipunan and Vista
Taft in 2011 and España 878 launched in 2012. All four have been
sold out, testifying to their ideal locations, the well-thought out
designs and facilities, the quality of the built towers, and how well
each caters to the needs of our students and educators.
to the success of these four properties, Vista Residences is ready to
launch five more that are just as strategically located near
universities within Metro Manila and key provincial destinations
namely:  Vista GL Taft, Vista Heights in Legarda, Vista Brenthill in
Baguio, Vista Katipunan in Quezon City the second project in the area
and Vista Recto in Manila.

Each Vista Residences University Tower houses an E-Library,
a completely modern and ideal learning hub; study pods for those who prefer an isolated space, a fitness center that
also promotes recreational sports; a swimming pool; a roof deck; and
multi-purpose function rooms for hosting parties, other social
events, and school meetings or study groups.

Another interesting feature in the design of the University Series is that each building uses solar panels in an effort to decrease their carbon footprint.  To date, the solar panels are used to power select communal areas and mobile charging stations.  In the future, Vista Residences hopes to use solar energy to supply even more of its electricity needs.

I like how they make an effort to reduce the carbon footprint, after all, energy consumption in condominium buildings tend to get really high.

the usual conveniences of condominium living, each property is
meticulously designed for those whose lives evolve around
institutions of learning. Their study needs, their other everyday
necessities; like food, laundry, and socializing, are key aspects
that are considered when designing the condominiums.  Proximity to
the schools and universities is key, of course, but equally crucial
is safety and security.

For the past year, there have been some reports in the news of theft and other crimes related to condo living, so a lot of parents and guardians are hesitant to send their kids to live in condos.

With Vista Residences, the residents – and their parents – have less to worry about. Each building is equipped with a guarded reception area and parking, smoke and fire alarms, sprinkler systems, generators, and CCTV systems in most of the common areas.

Here are some model unites from the towers in España and Katipunan. I like the very efficient use of space by putting the bed on top, then closet, desks, at the bottom.

Investment in Education, a Lifestyle and the Future

I actually plan on investing in condos in the near future. The Vista University Series units are actually ideal because they are located within the hotspots in Metro Manila.  Not only are they close to universities and other academic institutions, they are also close to business centers, as well as places for leisure, and transportation hubs. Although these properties are designed for students, the convenience makes these units also great for families, yuppies, especially for those who need a home close to offices.

To learn more about the Vista Residences’ university series properties, contact us at 650 0753 or 0999 8871705  or visit For news, updates, and announcements, follow vistaresidencesofficial on Facebook and @vistarescondo on Instagram.

I had a lot of fun with these girls at the event, we actually had more selfies but I opted to post these ones.

Review: Charlie’s Grind & Grill Makati

Another food post! If you guys follow me in instagram (@_phyliciamarie) you’d notice that there are usually just four things in my feed: food, fashion, travel and beauty. I usually post a food discovery weekly, in between ootds and photos with friends.

For food trends, burgers, ramen, and dimsum happen to boom last year, and still going strong for this year. Charlie’s Grind & Grill is one of those burger joints up on the leader-boards for really good quality burgers. I love a juicy beef quarter pounder, and Charlie’s has that, and so much more.

Charlie’s has just expanded, opening its 3rd store located at Greenbelt Radissons Condominiums, Aguirre Street, Legaspi Village, Makati. It’s actually difficult easy to miss, sandwiched between corporate buildings, and blocked by cars parking on the street, but a visit will really satisfy your craving for a pre-game burger.

First up, are the burgers Charlie’s is famous for:

Left: Wagyu Cheesburger (Php 210), Right: Black Angus Cheeseburger (Php 210)

Flavor wise, the two burgers are the same, except the Wagyu is about 1/3 pound and the Angus is ¼ pound. The wagyu is also juicier since it has more fat. Side note, a really good option is the Black Angus Cheeseburger with Shrooms, filled with a cheese stuffed portobello mushroom. It’s not in the photo, but it’s my favorite burger from Charlie’s.

Chick’n Charlie (Php 210) – This was really good, I love how the chicken is tender and juicy and not overly seasoned. It’s also a big piece of chicken, so it easily fills up a hungry stomach.

Charlie’s has a good assortment of sauces you can add to your burgers, or to anything from their menu, just ask the waiter for the available sauces.

Wagyu Cheesesteak (Php 295) – This was really good Philly cheesesteak. I’m a big fan of cheese, especially melted gooey cheese, and everything on this bun just made my taste buds dance in happiness.

Chilli and Cheese Fries (Php 165) – It packs a lot of spicy in every bite. I can take heat, but having a lot of these fries can be really hot for my mouth. There was just too much chilli, and too little cheese to balance out the spicy. I would have loved this dish better if there were more cheese and tomatoes in it.

Meatballs Marinara (Php 330) – This is a big serving of pasta, with big meatballs. Honestly, if I were in Charlie’s I would forgo ordering this and just order a burger. The pasta was just too forgettable, and the meatball too crumbly and dry.

A staple in joints like these and as perfect bar grub are these chicken wings. Charlie’s has six variants, and each order comes in a half-dozen or one dozen, together with veggie sticks and bleu cheese dip.

Some of the pieces I tried had dry meat, with crispy skin. I like how each has distinct flavors catering to all types of customers.

Frontrow: Punyeta Sauce, Nuclear, Hot

That Punyeta Sauce is crazy spicy. I swear my whole mouth was on fire!!! I can finish one wing but I had to go through my whole glass of iced tea with it! It tastes good even with the heat though, i like the tanginess the jalapenos impart, and the buffalo sauce. Nuclear had a more smoky flavor from the chilli flakes, also with a lot of heat. the Hot flavor is sort of the mild version, can easily be tolerated by many.

L-R: Sticky Wings, Sweet and Reverse Buffalo Wings

Sticky Wings and the Sweet variant are very good for kids, both without any heat or spiciness. The sticky wings are very sweet and salty in a good way, while the sweet variant is sort of like a sweet peppery buffalo wing. The reverse buffalo wing is basically deep fried chicken topped with Blue Cheese Sauce, instead of the hot and sour buffalo sauce.

The Makati branch has walls of nice cartoony art, which goes well with the food served there.

The fridge is also stuffed with a lot of beverage options, and a lot of beer.

All in all I liked my Charlie’s experience, I already tried the branch at Ronac Art Center, but it’s nice to know there’s another branch near my office.

Dangerously High

“Glamour is about feeling good in your own skin.” – Zoe Saldana

It’s summer!! Cue Olaf’s “In Summer” song, and bring out our tank tops, shorts, and every piece of breezy clothing we have! For this post, instead of sharing the usual summer day outfit posts, I’m showing you guys what you can wear to a summer party without the typical summer looks.

For parties, gatherings indoors, we typically go for put together tailored dresses, maxis, and other smart casual options. But during summer, the heat get’s really unbearable, so wearing these same outfits can be uncomfortable.

What you can do is to get breezy tops like what I have on, then pair them with a dressy skirt. The top on its own looks like something you can wear to the beach, especially when paired with cutoffs. It can also be paired with highwaisted skinny jeans for a casual look.

What I like about this pairing is that it’s dressy, while being really breathable. The dangerously thigh high cut is very sexy, while the asymmetrical midi side of the skirt shows some modesty. Don’t forget to wear cycling shorts underneath though, the material can ride up higher on your thighs, we don’t want any wardrobe malfunction now do we?

Wear some chunky accessories with it to make the look even more glamorous, or play it up with makeup.

When I wore this out, I was actually wearing a kimono over it to make it casual, then took the kimono off for a girls’ night out. I didn’t have to worry about sweating too much because a) the material is light and, b) comfortable for movement.

What’s your party-ready outfit?

Bonchon Chicken: Change is Delicious

Bonchon Chicken introduces its 4th sauce, Crunchy Garlic, together with the launching of its new quality campaign, Change is Delicious. Out with the old and in with the new, the campaign aims to get more people to try the extraordinarily delicious chicken and fast casual (fast food and casual dining) experience from Bonchon.

Crunchy garlic is a sweet and salty zest glaze with garlic chips sprinkled on top. In my opinion, it’s a sweeter version of the soy garlic, with the added texture of the crispy garlic on top of each chicken piece.

Crunchy garlic is available for both fish and chicken meals, also with the same price as the other existing sauces. What i like about Bonchon is that they are very consistent with their flavors, sure this is a media presentation, but I also get the same quality whenever I order from their other branches.

When I go to Bonchon, I usually order the fish wrap and japchae, so it’s nice to try other dishes like these squid rings.

For dessert, Bonchon has both hot and cold options. I got to try the mango crepe, which was crispy, and good, but a bit too sweet for me. The fro-yo is a good choice after eating all those fried food, definitely cleanses the palate.

Change is Delicious

With this campaign, Bonchon wants to highlight the variety and quality of Bonchon chicken. With the Filipinos being well versed with social media, a normal piece of chicken is just not worth sharing online, or to put it exactly – a plain old chicken is just not instagrammable.

Bonchon wants everyone to know that satisfying your fried chicken craving need not be the same old usual crispy chicken. With flavors like Soy Garlic, Sweet and Spicy, Honey Citrus, and the latest, Crunchy Garlic, Bonchon brings American-Korean fusion flavors, that changes the way we Filipinos prefer our chicken. That’s four different ways to enjoy our chicken.

At the launch event, Bonchon showed everyone life hacks, how to do things differently, to make our lives simpler, and have more time for adventures.

The host was the very charismatic Sam YG, and the first hack is about how to fold clothing in a few seconds. You can actually find a tutorial of this on Youtube, its very easy, and efficient.

The second one is a bit of a DIY, using empty lotion, cologne bottles to create a holder for charging of mobile phones. Charger cables tend to be really short, and we sometimes lack a clean space to leave our phones to charge. This holder keeps your phone clean, (yay you don’t need to place it on the floor!), and serves as a decorative element to your outlets. Tip: use washi tape!

The 3rd hack is the use of tissue carton tubes, to organize or many cables, cords, and whatnot. All you have to to is stick the tubes side by side, line them in a shoebox, and tada! your DIY desk or drawer organizer.

I had the most fun with the last one, because I liked using washi tape to decorate the tubes. 🙂

Scott Tan, Bonchon’s Owner and Managing Director, also spoke about how he loved Bonchon. He decided to bring Bonchon here after getting a bite of it in one of his visits to the Big Apple, New York. He loved it so much, he just had to share Bonchon with everybody else.

At the event, I had a lot of fun with these girls, (L-R) Aci, Chessika of, Tina of, and Rochelle of

Candy Crush

I think I’ve already exhausted all the titles I could think of with the word floral, so I went with this one for a change. I think the colors of my outfit remind me of candy, marshmallows, lollipops, and other things.

I know, at the back of your head, you’re prolly thinking, floral again? It’s just so me! Besides, I haven’t done print on print on my clothes lately, so you could say there’s something different with this one.

The key to pulling off a print on print look is to keep within the same color family. In this case I used pink as the color of continuity. It also helps if one piece has a more subdued print than the other. Here, you can see the top has a more simple floral print, and the skirt has bigger flowers, as well as more vivid colors.

Never ever ever put together a print on print look with pieces that are all too busy, you’ll end up confusing everyone, or worse, a hot mess. Also, I find those combinations too gaudy, and well, bordering on tacky and tasteless.

Another pointer is to keep the accessories simple since the prints are already attention grabbing. For me I wore neutral jewelry, and wore nude heels to keep the focus on the coordinating prints.

Another thing to note about this look is the top, it’s actually cropped to a good length. It’s not too short to be midriff bearing, and also not too long to be tucked in with high waisted bottoms.

The practicality of this outfit also wins it for me, since it is really getting warmer in our tropical country. At least with a light outfit like this, I won’t easily sweat buckets when out in the summer. It’s also a good alternative to the usual tank shorts combo commonly sported in this heat.

Also, notice the hidden pockets in my skirt! The skirt was actually an awkward tea length or midi when I found it in a thrift store, but since I really liked the material and the hidden pockets, I just had it altered to this length. Alteration is also a good way to breathe new life into old clothes, or you can always DIY them.

What’s your go to summer outfit?
