They’re finally here! (Bershka & Stradivarius)

image

my favorite romper from the Stradivarius fashion show

When brands like Forever 21, Uniqlo, Cotton On, hit the Philippine shores in the past few years, wanderlust shopaholics everywhere were praying fervently for the arrival of Bershka and Stradivarius. Since retails giants Mango and Zara, both from Spain, have been doing well for years now, the arrival of these two brands was inevitable.

Bershka and Stradivarius are also both Spanish brands, under the same mother company. They have distinct characteristics that set them apart from each other, without compromising their similar origin. Bershka is for the younger set, overflowing with bright colors and youthful energy, whereas, Stradivarius, inspired by music, attracts those who are into music, and laidback casual boho chic lifestyles.

I was so happy to be able to attend the official launching events of both brands, and here I am sharing to you what happened.

Although Stradivarius’ launching event happened after the Bershka one, I’ll talk about this one first, since I liked this launching better. I dunno, I guess, it just felt more prepared, and organized. Plus, I loved that they converted the whole activity center into an african oasis themed function. As host Julia Sniegowski said, “It feels like stepping into the Sex and the City 2 movie!”. I’m sorry for the lack of photos, but seriously, it was halfway between African safari and desert paradise.

I really wanted this crochet top, but when I dropped by their store, they ran out in my size *tears. Anyhoo, I wore this outfit to the event btw. I just really wanted to be in theme. haha

Next up, the Bershka launching event:

The setup here was more intimate and exclusive, the store was only open to the invited guests, and a short program guided the flow. I didn’t enjoy myself much as there was almost nothing to do there, except ogle at the bright neon extremely youthful pieces. Sure cocktail food and drinks were served, but, seriously, I’m not one for just tiny bites of food. I really thought a fashion show was in order, especially since it was a launch. But the hey, I was invited, so I should stop hating now and talk about the more positive things about it.

Met the super siblings Daryl and Andre Chang, who were so down to earth, btw, esp. Andre.

Coachella Hangover

image

As if the title doesn’t say it all. Let me lay it down for you. I have always been fascinated with Coachella, the music, the art, the people, and the partying. Coachella weekend is where everybody lets loose, and take music: indie, hippie, artsy fartsy music, on steroids. During Coachella, you’re only job is to enjoy the music, and have fun.

image

It’s always a delight browsing through online albums, with retail brands sponsoring parties here and there during the weekend, and bringing A-list stars into it for promotion. I love everyone’s style interpretation during Coachella, so young, wild, vibrant, free, and with no inhibitions whatsoever.

image

The first time I heard about Coachella? Was back in the days when I was stalking One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush. She was my girl crush back when One Tree Hill was THE high school set series to watch. I found her very alluring, and her beauty is unconventional, yeah?

Before you ask, oh yes, I ogled at Georgina Wilson’s and Divine Lee’s Coachella Instagram snaps of coachella, really wished I could go there!!!

image

Now back to my outfit, I’ve always wanted to wear something Coachella inspired, being that I’ve always dreamed of joining the event someday. This outfit, is prolly what I would wear, comfortable, practical, but still fir for the festival. The headband adds a nice touch, don’t you think?

Men, and Pasta

image

Remember this Instagram post? If you don’t, well let me refresh your memory. I was able to attend the Amigo Segurado presscon a few weeks ago. I went there without any expectations, as I didn’t actually know what the program would be, or who will be there. I haven’t been able to watch any of their TV ads, so I had no idea that Daniel Padilla and Richard Yap were actually their endorsers. I am no fan of the two, because I don’t watch local drama series, really. I do know that they’re pretty popular, Daniel being the face at all the #MedyoBadBoy meme’s all over facebook, and Richard being “Sir Chief”, the leading man behind the popular noontime series, “Please Be Careful with my Heart”. The latter, I only knew of when people around school spoofed the show.

Now back to Amigo Segurado, they’re a homegrown brand, under a mother company which has existed for several decades now. Interestingly too, they have a world class factory, situated in the very busy, and popularly shady district of Tondo, Manila. The good people behind the brand actually had an open offer for a factory tour, and I hope that one pushes through. 🙂

Anyway, this time, with charm and screen charisma, Richard Yap takes the lead in the brand’s launch ad, and was followed by Daniel Padilla’s Christmas TV commercial. Their TVCs can actually be found in YouTube, just type and hit on the search bar. If you don’t find it, send me an email and I’ll send you a copy of the video (I got my own copy from the presskit).

Chicken Macaroni Sopas
The TVCs basically talk about one extraordinary thing: Amigo Segurado Spaghetti & Macaroni can be paired with any everyday viand. Thus, “Masarap Bagayan” ang Amigo Segurado Spaghetti & Macaroni. Versatility becomes a quality of spaghetti and macaroni as Amigo Segurado turns the usual mixes into extraordinary pasta recipes that will delight everyone’s palate. That’s why “Masarap Bagayan”, being the new slogan, reinforces the brand’s flexibility and usefulness in daily meals. “Bagay din ito sa Menudo, Adobo, Mechado, Aftritada, Lengua Estofado, Embotido, at maging sa Corned Pork, Hamonado, at sa iba pang ulam na pwedeng bagayan!”

image

After reading this, I’m sure you guys highly doubt that pasta would taste great with dishes normally paired with food, or other sidings, not pasta!? In the presscon though, the two endorsers vouched for this, because they’ve both personally tried pairing these pastas with different dishes, and each time, they claim, it would be great. Of course, they also say, it depends on how great a cook puts a spin on the dish.

Sardines Spaghetti

I actually asked our maid to make the two dishes above using the Amigo Segurado pasta I got from the presscon, and they turned out really good. Honest. Or was it because our yaya is a pretty good cook. Teehee. Well whatever the reason, i enjoyed the dishes, so go ahead and try it too. Don’t be afraid to experiment even. 🙂

And now, I shall leave you with, photos of the endorsers, should you want high res copies, and more photos, email me and I’ll send them to you, I actually have around 6 photos of them, each.

Uncharacteristic

image

When my friend Sef first saw me in this outfit, he said, “Nakakatawa yang outfit mo, mukha kang bata, at mabait, parang hindi ikaw.” In other words, my outfit screamed too much sweetness, and not a tiny bit of evil, which Sef thought of me. haha. So yeah, you could say this look would be uncharacteristic of me, but then again, if you look back at my look posts, I have a lot of sweet ones, like this polka dot number and this Little Lulu inspired one.

image

Anyway, back to my look, I’ve been raring to wear this pair of stockings ever since I got them on sale at Dorothy Perkins around a year ago. Sadly, due to busy schedules, and timetables that just don’t meet, I didn’t have any trips abroad that would allow me to wear it. I just don’t think stockings are appropriate here in the country, the weather’s too bipolar, and when it’s hot, it’s really hot.

Luckily, the day that I wore this out was a pretty chilly one. I was prepared to wear a crop top, but suddenly it was raining hard, and it was surprisingly pretty cool. As I was scouring inside my closet for something more appropriate to wear, I found these stockings and decided to wear them on a whim. I searched some more, the ta-dahhh! A cute outfit perfect for fall.

image

I know this is very weird, considering the scorching hot weather right now, but humor me will you? I promise I’ll post beach worthy looks next time. Especially when I’m Boracay bound at the end of the month! I’m sooooooooooooooo exciteeeeeed!!! Can you feel it? Yes? Yes? Yes? WOOOOHOOOO.

Gaaaaaah, I can’t wait to soak my feet in seawater, and lounge at the beautiful shores of Boracay! I’ll update you guys on Instagram when I’m there!!! 🙂
