Color Dash 2013

The running bug. I think the whole country has caught on to the health and fitness movement initiated by enthusiasts all over the world.

Nowadays, it’s common to see a poster for a 5K run, usually with a cause. You’ll see different sponsors, with their own advocacies, a run for breast cancer, a run for literacy, among others. Being a fitness junkie-wannabe myself, I have participated in a few runs for the past years. Emphasis on wannabe since I am not as disciplined as real fitness junkies. haha. Some of the 5K runs I’ve joined include my own college’s Pharmatakbo, to Outbreak BGC last year, to the most recent, Color Manila Run (photo below).

image

It was actually fun getting splattered with all the different colors, but I was a bit disappointed with Color Manila run. Why? First, the powder was merely thrown by hand at every station, no theatrics, no anything, just simple throwing, like babies playing with sand in the sandbox. Boring. Second, they ran out of powder, FAST. When I got to the 5th station, I had to make do with the powder on the sides of the tub to get myself some purple. Annoying, I hate it when people are unprepared when I paid good money for the experience. If it wasn’t for the pretty rainbow finisher medal, I would’ve been seriously pissed. Haha.

It is a good concept, running human rainbows, I just really hope it’s executed properly. I’m planning to join another run like it soon, named Color Dash 2013. This time, they’ll use choppers and everything, and  this time, I was sort of guaranteed that I’ll get my money’s worth. 🙂

I’m sure this will be a really fun event, with crazy colorful people running all over the place. Imagine tons of people flocking BGC in a myriad of colors, who doesn’t want to see that?

To give you a better visual of what people look like during the run, here’s a video Color Dash was inspired with:

Look at the little girl at 1:02, she’s such a cutie pie!

To give you more incentive in joining, Color Dash in actually in support of Coca-Cola’s Open Happiness “Sinong napasaya mo today?” #NapasayaKoToday campaign. In this light, they will be dashing out colors of red (coke), green (sprite), orange (RTO), blue (sarsi), black (coke zero) on a silver/white shirt (coke light) on everybody!! I can’t wait to see all those colors together, gaaaaah. 🙂 Not only that, remember the chopper I’ve mentioned before? Well it’s going to be present to dash more color on everyone! More color = More happiness. Whoopie!!

image

Another great thing is that every registered participant is entitled for a raffle entry, for a lot of prizes from sponsors like Zoot, Otterbox, UA, The Old Spaghetti House, media partners Multisports Magazine and Soul BGC.

And oh, Color Dash also supports the disaster program of Red Cross.

You see, when you join Color Dash, you get more of your money’s worth. You already get to be a human rainbow, you get to donate to charity, help keep your body in shape while at it, and if your lucky, you can win prizes too.

A race kit costs Php 650, which is a good price already, considering the 800 I spent on Color Manila, haha, bitter much?

image

But wait, you can get 100 off the registration fee when

image

Registration areas are at the Athlete’s Foot (Two Parkade, High street); A Runner’s Circle (Aloha Hotel, Roxas blvd); G Stop (Greenhills Shopping Center and ATC). Online Registration from www.buybranded.com.ph

Enjoy raffle prizes and wait for the happy chopper that will dash out more colors and prizes! Color dash is happening on May 11, 2013. Like our FB page: Color Dash. Updates are also available here. Registration is still ongoing so go! 🙂

Create something different, with Mega Sardines

image

Yesterday, as we were looking for someplace to eat after Visita Iglesia, we had a difficult time looking for a restaurant serving lent-friendly food, meaning no meat. After a long time of driving around, we just settled on the Yellow Cab branch along Katipunan, and just ordered their lent friendly choices.

As I was looking at the menu, I realized that I haven’t blogged about Mega Sardines yet, and how they offered recipes that were actually perfect for the lenten season. Sometime last week, I was invited to their media launch for their upcoming cooking show entitled Everyday Creations, airing next April 4, Friday, at 6:30 pm, on the Lifestyle Channel.

I’m a huge fan of cooking shows, I especially love Jamie Oliver’s 30 Minute Meals, and the Cake Boss, so I was excited to be at the event.

image

Before anything else, Mr. Rafael Lantin, Marketing Director for all brands under MFC Global, gave us an overview of the Mega Sardines mission. After that, Valerie Tan, Brand Manager for Mega Creations Premium Sardines, told us about the upcoming cooking show, and how great the chef/host was.

“Mega Creations Premium Sardines offers unparalleled freshness and flavor that Filipinos will rave about,” said Valerie Tan, brand manager for Mega Creations Premium Sardines. “Our products go through a stringent process from catching to canning, ensuring that all the natural goodness of the sea are locked in each can.” Mega Creations Premium Sardines brings its delightful dishes to every home with “Everyday Creations,” an exciting new cooking show that teaches foodies how to whip up restaurant-worthy meals in minutes. Together with Chef Villalon, viewers can now learn how to make pesto pasta, fresh spring rolls, Greek pizzas, and more—all using the secret ingredient: Mega Creations Premium Sardines. Food enthusiasts can now enjoy richer flavors with a gourmet twist, and use these simple ingredients to crate delightful meals they can share with loved ones.

image

Presenting, Chef Greg Villalon, the face behind the recipes for the show, Everyday Creations. Isn’t he such a cutie? Won’t his handsome looks and welcoming demeanor just charm you into watching an episode? Yes? Just as I thought you would be. 🙂

image

The goal of the show was to create simple, easy to dishes that showed the great versatility of sardines, rich flavors and surprises to the palate. Featuring two new variants, the Mega Creations Premium Sardines in Natural Oil and its spicier counterpart, the Mega Creations Premium Sardines in Spanish Style, Chef Villalon’s sumptuous dishes validated the versatility of sardines.

“Fresh ingredients and a bit of love is the secret to every successful dish,” said Chef Villalon. “With Mega Creations Premium Sardines, it has become so easy to whip up delectable dishes that will make ordinary meals extra special and surprise your friends and loved ones.”

image

For the first part of the program, Chef Greg asked for a volunteer to come up and assist in cooking his first two recipes, to be shown in the show. The volunteer was lifestyle blogger, Jo Bonsod, and she was game as ever.

image

The first recipe was to make the Asian Style Sardine Sub Sandwich

image

the final product,

image

and the samples they gave each one to taste

Next up was the Moroccan Sardine and Sweet Potato Casserole, which was my favorite dish out of everything that was served that day.

image

image

The second part of the program was a cookoff between a male food blogger, and one of producers from Lifestyle channel. The task was to cook the Cilantro and Sardines Pesto Pasta, without instruction, all the ingredients were laid out, but they had to figure out how to cook them.

image

Then judging commenced,

image

and this plate won! The male blogger cooked the sardines in such a way that they would be crispy or sisig like to create more dimension to the dish.

image

Celebrity Chef Rosebud Benitez also graced the event, and I took the chance to have a photo op with the two chefs on board.

image

Catch Everyday Creations, premiering on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. on The Lifestyle Network. Visit the My Everyday Creations page on Facebook for more unique and easy-to-make recipes.

Also, I’ve attached the three recipes presented to us, in case you wanted to try them out yourself 🙂

After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them.”

Have a holy Maundy Thursday everyone 🙂

Dark and Daring

Hey all!!! Did you miss me? I haven’t been able to blog within the week because school has been eating me alive lately. I have so many requirements to accomplish in so little time!

Before this post becomes inappropriate for lent, I’m posting it before Maundy Thursday! Haha. Sorry, that was so lame. I just want to show you guys one of the looks I’ve been dying to try out, but was never given the opportunity to do so.

Here goes, my daring grungy streetstyle look. Tell me what you think okay, it’s a first for me, trying out grunge. Speaking of, I actually checked out Lookbook star Lua P. for inspiration on this look. 🙂

It was Bershka’s Official launch that day, and urban street style was the attire, so I thought that this would be the moment. haha. Originally, I didn’t want to go to the Anotny Morato event later that night, but decided to tag along anyway. The attire for that one’s cocktail chic btw, good thing I brought a blazer, my shredded top was no way cocktail. haha. I stayed for a few minutes at Hyve, then home I went.

Blazer: Fashion Galore

Shredded Top: One TRF

Fleur De Lys Denim Pants: Cotton On

Beach Party

image

When I looked at myself in the mirror for the first time after finishing this whole look, I thought that this would be something I would wear to a night of partying at the beach. Say at Boracay maybe, don’t you think so? It just felt so laid back, and all too summery, with the maxi and everything.

photos by Alyssa Yu

image

I actually wore this to the American Eagle Outfitters Opening which I blogged about just previously.

Knowing that it was for AEO PH, I just had to wear something casual, but still stunning. After all, AEO showcases looks for your no fuss Cali girl. Simple, casual, comfortable, but still sexy, that was what I was going for.

image

The starting piece for this look was actually the maxi skirt, which I got on sale at Terranova for just Php 195. i thought it was perfect, since the night was breezy anyway. I then decided to go with this very loose mint top, where I wore a printed bandeau underneath. I didn’t want to be exposed too much, so I wore a matching blazer over it. I added a few accessories such as this necklace, to accentuate my neckline, and borrowed this cute clutch from Alyssa.

image

image

I really love this shot, I look so tall here! Hurrah for tippy toes and the illusion maxi skirts give my legs!

image

I picked this one because of the pretty lights at the back, don’t you think it just adds to the whole effect of the photo?

image

Hype this on lookbook.nu! 🙂

Top: 7 For All Mankind

Bandeau: Cotton On

Skirt: Terranova

Blazer: Sabrina

Necklace: Peaches On Top

AEO Arrives in Manila

image

American Eagle Outfitters finally opened its doors to VIP Manila shoppers on Feb. 28, 2013, and I was a lucky girl to be there. It was indeed, a night filled with delicious food, great company and great music, I surely had a lot of fun.

image

Congrats Suyen Corporation for a successful launch!

I think the guy on the right is a member of Azkals, or Volcanoes, basta, ayun. Correct me if you know.

image

Too bad I wasn’t able to take a photo of the melt in your mouth brownies! They were just soo yummy! One of the best I’ve ever tasted. Kudos to Bizu for another delicious feast!

image

image

image

With Marian, Alyssa, Sef, and Bea, Marian and Bea are both from Status Magazine

image

After the fashion show and program proper, the guests are finally welcomed into the store.

image

There were so many people that night, most of whom can’t wait to get their hands on a pair of AEO jeans.

image

I love love love this display! Focus on the bright colors, ignore the ridiculously cute guy at the bottom of the photo okay?

image

Notice the shelves stacked with printed things!!

image

I present to you, Alyssa’s fangirling moment. I swear, it was the first time I saw this girl frazzled, and at the sight of her ultimate idol, Georgie!

image

I wasn’t as frazzled, but I did want a photo with PLL’s Shay Mitchell. Her heels are sky high, and even when I tiptoed, hanggang boobs niya lang ako grabe! That’s how tall she was!

Another thing, she had bouncers and body guards always watching her, but she stepped out of the store just to greet her fans, I even heard her say, “But the fans, I have to meet them!” Sweet right?

image

And the ever young, Ms. Gretchen Barretto. I think i saw the whole Barretto clan there (except Claudine), plus a ton of other celebs.

image

I couldn’t resist taking a wacky photo in front of this well made signage. so here!

image

It is a very rare thing for Alyssa and I to have photos together in events, so we were pretty happy the guy who was carrying the mobile photo booth volunteered to take our photo.

image

Here’s one of our photobooth shots, and again, thank you AEO PH team!

P.S. Don’t forget to join my two ongoing giveaways!! 🙂

Anything But Boring

image

Ever since I saw this Topshop dress in the Shangri-La Plaza Mall Season of Opulence Fashion Show, I’ve always watched out fot it to go on sale. Sadly, when it went on sale, it still cost roughly 3K. Well I couldn’t afford that, it was just too impractical to buy the dress, when I would just prolly wear it once. So imagine my joy when I saw this Forever 21 dress on sale last month! I got it for about 1200 pesos, which was within my budget, so I got it right after fitting.

It was also such great timing, that same day, I was going to the MEGA Goes Digital party, and the theme was futuristic. When you say futuristic, you think, metal, silver, structured, so that was what i was going for. in short, this dress was perfect!
The very sexy cut at the back was a huge bonus too. 🙂

image

image

This smile, is a sweet warning, of a bunch of photos flaunting my sexy back. 🙂

image

image

Styling tip: With dresses with daring backless details such as this, it is best to wear silicone bras, it’s a pity if you ruin the sexy back the dress was going for.

image

Hello cheekbones! I hope you show yourself more often, my face looks round most of the time.

And oh, sorry I went crazy with the watermarks on my back, I don’t want my backless dress photos exploited by opportunistic websites.

image

Meet my scary face. hoho. I look sorta angry, but I wasn’t.

image

And in a complete turnaround, I’m smiling on this one.

image

image

image

Being a Lazada PH blogger, I got VIP Passes, and brought Alyssa along. I won a Nikon camera from Lazada PH that night for being best dressed too. 🙂

Casual Cool

image

I’ve always wanted a loose knit sweater, something that was breezy and light, so I can still wear it during summer. I finally found the one while I was shopping at Forever 21’s latest sale, and I must say, I love it! I’ve worn it a few times already, and it was just bought last weekend. My yaya has already frowned on me twice this week for asking her to wash this sweater out of her usual laundry sched. That’s how much I love it. I wore it twice this week! The other time I paired it with cutoffs, haha!

image

image

Well anyhoo, I wore this to the food tasting event I blogged previously, (Rufo’s), and since it was just a casual event, i wanted to wear something very laidback. I also wanted something loose, since I was expecting to get bloated, to hide my tummy, just in case. harhar. Para naman hindi halata diba?

Another thing I love about this sweater is how it’s also sexy, in a very subtle way. See how many holes it actually has? I didn’t want to wear a camisole underneath in fear of ruining the design, so I just wore my nude colored Wacoal T-shirt bra. See what I did there? I sort of felt naked actually, but what the hell I said, just bring it.

image

I bought these emerald green corduroy pants at the sale too, and decided to pair them up, to add to my casual cool vibe. The fabric was just too cozy, I had to pair them up. Plus, I didn’t want to wear cutoffs when my top was already a bit sexy, and a lot of people (mostly bloggers I had just met) were present, so those were the things I had to consider.

image

oops! Double chin alert!!!! hahaha 🙂

I finished it off with pastel arm candies, and my comfy HABI flats.
