I don’t wear all black. I really don’t. If you haven’t noticed, I prefer clothes in bright colors. So it comes as a surprise to a few of people that I actually wore black.
For this one, my college batchmates and I were actually required to wear black for our batch photo for our yearbook. They were going for a certain kpop peg, so everyone just went with it. And because I don’t wear black, I had nothing to wear. It is times like these that I thank God we have girlfriends to go to for wardrobe emergencies. Thank you Alyssa for lending me the sexy LBD!
I thought the dress was very sexy already, so I didn’t need to add much to make it work. To keep the look classy, I just wore a simple pair of pearl and diamond earrings, along with a matching necklace, all in gold, and finished it off with my favorite nude pumps.
It was only when I wore this dress that I realized how much a black dress can do wonders to your figure. See what happened to mine? I looked soo curvy. So from this point on, I might just consider buying an LBD (Little Black Dress) for myself.
Great back detail, yes?
Forgive my blemished legs, I actually still have a few bruises here and there, ugh, clumsy me.
Tip: Invest in classic pieces of jewelry such as pearls and simple diamond earrings set in real gold, although they are pricey, they can go a long a way, and can even be passed down as heirloom.

In case you guys were wondering, this was our peg. LOL. 🙂
P.S. Are you guys ready for my upcoming birthday giveaway?
Adidas recently opened its newest store at the heart of Bonifacio Global City, to celebrate, they threw a bangin’ bash to make things official.
Hosted by Rjay Ty, Wave 89.1’s best new artist for 2012, the event was graced by top models, celebrities, and media. One hundred attendees for the night were given balloons that contained Adidas discount coupons by event staff in colorful running attire, making the event fun and festive.
the program was started with a short prayer
then the blessing followed
The retail outlet carries various lines of adidas shoes and apparel including: basketball, running, training, football, and Originals. The store is actually divided into those five segments, making it convenient for your specific consumer.
George Youssef, Country Manager, and Jason Gervasio, Brand Communications & Sports Marketing Manager of adidas Philippines
“It’s not just about being an athlete or being into sports. The new adidas outlet will further promote the importance of having an active, healthy lifestyle, which Bonifacio Global City has successfully fostered,“ says adidas Philippines’ Brand Activation Manager, Adrien Semblat.
A fashion show presenting the different collections adidas has to offer featured models like Rocky Salumbides and Luke Jickaine, and former Binibining Pilipinas Marie Ann Umali. The catwalk, painted in adidas’ trademark 3 stripes, allowed models to traverse from the store’s interiors to the program area along the Two Parkade walkways in BGC.
I love how all their pieces this season are so bright and colorful! So me! Hurrah for fun gym clothes!
All in all, I had a great time at the said event, too bad I was late. I wasn’t able to buy anything too, because they ran out of GCs when I got there. Good thing, Green Bulb PR and Adidas PH are such a friendly lot, and offered to send my GCs via snail mail instead! (I already received the GCs as of this writing). Again, thank you Adidas!
with Sef, who I brought to the event, it was nice having a great bonding session with you, til the next! (credits to Paul Chuapoco for our photo)
Another thing, if you guys were paying attention, I’m actually holding an Adidas track jacket, an old one, but my favorite among my jackets. I just realized that my first trainers are actually from Adidas, along with a badminton outfit, cap, gym bag, and track pants. Most of these items, I’ve had since grade 6. So yeah, you could say that I’ve always been a fan of Adidas, way before I even started writing about them. Again thank you Adidas!
The new store is located at Two Parkade, 30th St. corner 7th Ave., Bonifacio Global City.

While I was editing these photos, I couldn’t help but think that this might be something a grown up Little Lulu, (Lulu Moppet) would wear. Can you imagine it? Her cute curly locks, in a beret, and this simple but chic dress? Or is it just me? Well anyway, red would prolly look better on her. Still, I miss that cartoon series, it was one of those cartoons I watched growing up, together with Captain Planet, Dexter, Ninja Turtles, yeah those. I’m a 90’s kid! Anyway, back to Little Lulu, I miss her with Tubby Tompkins, haha. I really hoped they would end up together, I’d watch and say, “They look cute together right?”. Ang landi ko lang na bata. haha. Madaming alam! Maybe one of these days I’ll find a torrent or something of Little Lulu, and relive my childhood. 🙂
On another note, doesn’t this remind you of Kate Middleton’s style? She was my peg for that day actually. I always thought she looked very polished, classy, and every bit the girly girl that she is. Only, since I can’t afford a Philip Treacy hat, I settled on this Dorothy Perkins beret, which actually had glitter details in it. I sometimes think I’m resurrected from a gypsy, I’m always attracted to things with shimmer, glitter, or anything with sparkle. So yeah, if it weren’t for the extra sparkle that this beret had, I prolly wouldn’t have noticed it from the racks. harhar. Me and sparkly things, London Tipton approves. 🙂
I attended Snoe Beauty Inc.’s Blogger Soiree that day, and the was actually the future. I didn’t have anything with overly sharp shoulders, galaxy print, or crazy metallic, so I just wore whatever looked good on me. 🙂
I know, you guys should be scolding me for not following the dress code, but admit it, the look grows on you, yes? I actually fooled a lot of people that day, they all thought I was about 16, woot!!!! Babyface yo!! LOL Forgive me, I think I’m pretty old already so I get giddy every time someone thinks I’m younger than I am.
Shangri-La Plaza has always been my favorite mall in the country. Being a truly premiere lifestyle hub, it has everything I’d want in a mall. It carries a lot of well loved high street brands, like favorites Topshop, Mango and Zara, among others, and has a great selection for great grub too, including La Creperie, Cyma, Clawdaddy, and so much more.
But for me, it’s about the crowd. I hate overly crowded malls, the people frenzy drives me crazy, take SM Megamall for example, the place is never tame, it’s always wild with commotion from shoppers running around, or families having a great time. At Shang, that never happens, come sale season or Christmas, the crowd is still controlled, sure, the people are more animated because of the events, but it’s never crazy. Just the right crazy. A more serene one, if you get what I mean.
(A very shiny piece from Topshop, my favorite look from Season of Opulence)
Sure, Shang seems intimidating, giving off a very posh vibe, but I guess that works. Through the years, I’ve always thought Shang’s market is more of the upper social class. But fear not, Shang has a lot to offer, even if you have to work within a budget. Take the foodcourt for example, they have a wide variety of fastfood available, as for fashion and lifestyle, there is still an abundance of local giants such as the Bench group of brands, the Ramp Crossings, among others.
I know you guys are prolly rolling your eyes with this glowing recommendation, but seriously, I love Shang, if only it was near my house, I’d be hanging out there all the time. Speaking of hanging out, one activity I enjoy at Shang is people watching. I believe that Shang has the most well dressed crowd, If only they’d adopt Rockwell Powerplant Mall’s Sartorial Fridays, I’m sure they’ll get tons of shots of fashionable shoppers. Dapper as ever, in their casual shopping garb.
(A close second is this very laid back and glam look from Mango)
And what better way to treat the sartorial style setters at Shang than to give their loyal shoppers a preview of what’s in store? That’s exactly what happened when Shang brought together all it’s most notable fashion brands and give everyone, “Season of Opulence”, it’s holiday fashion show.
Aptly entitled, the Season of Opulence showcased the malls best offerings. When you hear the word opulent, you immediately think, rich, luxurious, intricate, and that’s exactly what they served everyone present.
GAP- The brand showcased their basics, in layers, and a multitude of fall colors.
I especially like this look, as it shows you how to pull of winter clothing in our country, all the while color blocking too!
BB Dakota at Anthem – I love their outerwear, the shearling vests are simply to die for.
Onitsuka Tiger- Luxe sportswear, how you can work your athletic pieces into your normal everyday wardrobe.
Nautica- Always catered to the beach, port or seaside lot, they styled the looks in such a way that current trends were worked seamlessly into their signature style.
the Original Penguin – this set is for the more preppy type, and for the successful yuppies. Being more relaxed, it’s perfect when you don’t feel like dressing up, but still look polished.
Celine – My eyes were very happy when this set came out, why? Colors? Check. Prints? Check. Surprising cuts and hemlines? Check. it was truly a delight. Yay!
Bauhaus- Bordering more on the edgy youth, with a few mature pieces in leather, the brand showed how a casual denim top actually goes well even for a night out.
Bauhaus- Don’t you love that faux fur cardigan? It has shimmer too! (Oh yes, I went gaga over it.)
Celio- A collection worthy of the picky metrosexual man, an array of comfy basics styled well, for the confident man of today.
K & Company- for a power Bella, this set is what I’d prolly call, Power Dressing. This is the set of clothes I’d wear to demand respect from colleagues, and fish a few compliments along the way too.
Warehouse- Clean structured dresses, perfect for the soirees and Christmas parties that happen during the season.
Warehouse – these dresses show off a woman’s figure well, as well as give enough coverage so you’ll be able to move in comfort.
Ben Sherman- Oh, if only the men I knew dressed like these male models, ahhhh! Those blazers. I can’t even.
Topshop’s current collection currently boasts of army jackets and sequined holiday pieces, very now, very trendy, and great for Shang’s stylish fashionistas.
MICO by Mia Urquico- One of Manila’s hottest designers, I saw what all the hype was about. See those holiday dress? So chic and glamorous!
Daniel Hechter- I actually bought my dad a shirt from here, as a present for Christmas. And yes he loves it. What’s not to love about the tailored pieces from Daniel Hechter?
Mango- Love love love everything here, each piece looks so effortlessly sexy, who wouldn’t want to look like that?
the Ramp Crossings – Bringing in feathers, sequins and animal prints in sophisticated classic pieces, everything was just screaming luxe glamour all through out.
Marks & Spencer- Simple and sexy- these looks are for the minimalist fashionista.
Debenhams- Dark and grungy, these looks showed us how black looks so great for the holidays.
Massimo Dutti- This set is one of my favorites, cashmere coats, shearling trim, casual luxury at its finest. When I’m rich and famous, I’d prolly be looking like that.
ZARA brings our baroque prints, fur, leather, in conventional pieces, giving viewers a surprise in every look.
Gowns by Halston, BCBG etc, from Rustan’s Department Store.
All in all, I had a great time, thank you for the VIP treatment Shangri-La Plaza!
If you guys like what you see here, you know where to go! You might even get them on sale too! *Wink*
It annoys me that the December breeze was nowhere to be found. WHYYYYY??? The chilly weather is what I’ve always looked forward to when the ber months arrive, but sadly, no breeze for me. boo. The breeze is the only thing that can allow the people in our country to pull off fall/winter clothing, but noo, it doesn’t come for us. aaack.
I have a thing for comfortable pullovers, and this blue shimmery one instantly caught my eye. If this had a voice, it would prolly say to me, “Buy me Phya, I’ll be a perfect addition to your closet.. buy meeee” in that airy spooky voice. haha I actually already saw this one at the last Supersale bazaar, but since I already told myself that I would not purchase anything priced above 400 pesos, I didn’t buy it as it was priced at 500 that time.
Lucky for me, I found it again at the Worldbex Bazaar, on sale for 400! So that’s how it found its way into my closet. harhar Since the weather won’t budge, this pullover was perfect since the material was thin and light, which meant that it won’t contribute any more heat to the already hot weather. I was attending UNO magazine’s presscon (which I blogged about here) that night, initially, I wanted to wear something more formal, but since there was an afterparty I decided to go the party girl route. And yeah, I kinda went overboard with the whole shiny shimmery sequin thing. haha
Notice my BLOGGER pin? Since I feel so much more legit now than last year (don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel like a hotshot already, it’s just that I get so much more opportunities now), I thought getting this pin would make it more official, and make me more conscientious when posting. haha. A personal reminder that I have to keep on pushing out great blog posts, to keep y’all interested.
I just had to ask, how do you guys find my hair here? Do you prefer me in curls? I just got myself this really cheap flat iron, which I actually used to curl my hair, and I’m currently obsessed with it, curling my hair every time I find the excuse to do so. Teehee
Behold, my first pair of party dangling earrings. I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect pair of chandelier earrings that’s simple enough to wear to formal events, but also pretty enough for a crazy rave party. When i finally found this pair, I was literally skipping with glee. And yes, I bought it in a heartbeat.
The sequin clutch/wristlet is actually one of the things I got myself this Christmas. I’ve always wanted one ever since I saw this bronze Zara sequin clutch from Kryz Uy’s blog. I saw how versatile the clutch was, so I was extremely happy when I found this in SM Bags, right beside the Parisian bags, and for just 400 pesos too! It’s very roomy, and light, perfect for ladies’ night with my girls. 🙂
the Colt 45 Beer Angels Cesca Litton and Denise Laurel, Bela Padilla couldn’t make it to the presscon because of her event for her current soap on GMA7, Magdalena.
Last month, UNO magazine held its re-launch after a brief hiatus. And what a comeback it has made. On its December issue’s cover are Colt 45’s Beer Angels Bela Padilla, Denise Laurel, and Cesca Litton, the hottest girls in showbiz right now. Not only are these women exceptionally gorgeous and outstandingly talented in their respective work, they are also, insanely smart.
In a presscon held last month, I had the privilege to ask Denise, Cesca, UNO EIC RJ Ledesma, Colt 45 Marketing Manager Greg Anonas a few questions regarding the December issue of UNO Mag, and why these girls are perfect for the Colt 45 brand.
So is this issue worth every penny? To be honest, I don’t really read men’s magazines, hello, I’m a female, and I’m very comfortable with my gender, no confusion there. Sure I’ve read a few articles once or twice in my lifetime because of persistent guy friends, but I never purchased one. But, I assure you, this issue of UNO mag is worth it.
What sets UNO magazine apart from its competitors, you might ask? First, it doesn’t just have photos of nude female bodies splattered all over the place, it actually has a lot of non-porn, non-perverted articles that are actually quite interesting to go through. I’ve seen other men’s magazines, and boy are they grand on providing nude female photos, give or take every other page has a sexy photo on it, but UNO is different, the issue does have sexy photos, but it packs a lot of information loaded articles too.
me fangirling over Denise, she’s soooo pretty. 🙂 She was actually wearing heels but she leaned down so we’re almost of the same height for the photo.
In this issue, they even have a full-length article in the Filipino language, particularly the article about Bela Padilla. Another thing that’s unique with UNO Magazine is that along with the front shot, they also have a back shot of the cover girls, which you should see in print, so grab a copy!!!! (If they aren’t sold out already) If you’re still not convinced, they are also articles regarding the great grub, the coolest hangout spots, even event coverages on the hottest happenings around town, and a whole lot more.
One thing’s for sure, UNO magazine is back, and is here to stay. With the spirit that I’ve seen from the UNO magazine team, I know they are back with a vengeance.
with Colt 45 Marketing Manager Mr. Greg Anonas
In one of my questions as part of the media, I asked Mr. Greg Anonas about how they selected their Beer Angels. He simply answered, “Smart is the new sexy.” If there was anything to be quoted from them, it was that statement. He further expounded (non verbatim) that these three women are not only nice to look at, they’re all athletic, strong smart women, which men find really attractive. They have the whole package, every man’s dream come true. To prove how kickass these girls are, they (Colt 45) even told us how professional the girls were during the shoot of their TV Commercial, the girls did all the stunts themselves, Denise even injured herself, while Cesca did flips, and was telling us how all her hard work was sort of wasted because the clip with her flips wasn’t included in the official TVC. She was actually telling Greg to at least release a behind the scenes video so she’ll at least have something to show her friends.
If you haven’t watched Colt45’s latest TVC, I’ve embedded it for you guys below. Enjoy!
Another thing, Greg taught us how to drink beer the right way. This is how you drink beer properly, sip it in a way that it only touches the back of your tongue and the roof of your mouth. Did you try it? Gets rid of the bitter aftertaste right? I had a much better beer experience after that. After that, I don’t dislike beer that much anymore, especially when it’s as good as Colt 45.
Thank you UNO Magazine! I had a great time. 🙂
To end this post, I leave you with a few outtakes from the cover shoot. Aren’t these girls mighty fine?
Can’t get enough of UNO Magazine? Grab a copy of The UNO Magazine 9th Year Collector’s Edition each with their unique serial numbers & the UNO Magazine All-Access event card! For all the boys reading this post, I swear you won’t regret your UNO magazine experience.
Pantone announces the color of 2013 as… (drumroll please) EMERALD GREEN!
This came as a bit of a problem for me as I wasn’t a huge fan of green, and didn’t have a lot of greens in my closet. This prolly stemmed from the fact that I’ve been wearing a forest green skirt as my uniform for 13 years. hoho. and with my high school school having most of the area painted in green. You really can’t blame me, right?
Well anyway, since this year is the year of the green shades, I was really happy that I got this emerald green circle top from Flattering Tops. I’d already worn it to a lot of places, but had yet to take outfit shots with it. Which is such a shame since it’s a really comfortable item of clothing, I’ve worn it to shoots, to Christmas shopping days, to social gatherings, it’s made of light cotton material which makes it easier to move in, perfect for days when you don’t want to think too much about your outfit.
So yeah, you could say that getting this top was heaven sent. 🙂
I wore this on a day out with my siblings, we wandered around BGC, ate, ran around, shopped a bit, and oh, this day was when I bought the Mango Tweed Jacket I wore here! Tralala.
Watch out for my post on where to go when you’re in BGC sometime soon, I’ve compiled a few great places to visit when you have no idea where to go. 🙂
P.S. All posts since the year started are actually scheduled posts, I’ve got a lot on my plate right now, so do forgive me if I don’t reply to emails or TAs immediately :). Again, thank you for always reading my blog, I’ll be hosting a giveaway soon, just you wait. 🙂
Cream puffs, eclairs, macarons, I go nuts over these pastries. When someone gives me any of these as presents, walang diet diet! I give some to my sibs so I won’t feel guilty indulging in these treats, but I still eat a whole lot. Can you blame me? How can you resist these very scrumptious pastries? Ugh, I can’t even.
Creme Caramel of the Sweet Summer Pairing by Paire
So yeah, pastries are pretty much on top of the list when you want to bribe me into doing some work for you, either that or get me drunk, get proof of my craziness, and blackmail me. hahaha. I do hope you never attempt the second one. 🙂
sampling sizes of the Class A Pairing by Paire
Now I know you’re wondering why the hell am I blabbing about these things, it’s because of Paire. Remember this quaint cafe I talked about in this post? Well they invited me to come celebrate their 1st Anniversary, and boy did I have a great time. 🙂
Full Serving-sized Almond Slice of the Class A Pairing by Paire
I know you’re already tempted to click this read more break, but I should warn you, the food photos, foodporn at its finest. Get ready for a photo heavy post. 🙂 And before you read on, make sure you’ve eaten already, else you’ll get hungrier with all the yummy photos. 🙂
Before we head to the food porn section, let me give you a tour of the event.
Green Tea Temple, Spiced Berry Slush
First, guests were served cocktails while waiting for other guests to arrive. The drinks were yum! If these were a preview of what’s to come, I was already excited.
Then the blessing was done.
Afterwards, everyone was asked to leave the restaurant and go up the function rooms of the Cocoon Boutique Hotel. We then learned that the program proper was happening there and not at the restaurant because they were expecting a lot more people than the restaurant could hold. Plus, the setup here was better since everyone had a clear view of the stage.
Our lovely hosts for the night, Bea, and the very bubbly and accomodating Anna (she was the one who invited me)
Paire was actually the brainchild of two sisters, Abby and Kat Nantes, both young and full of fresh ideas. Backing up the sisters is their supportive mom, who gives us a brief background on how the sisters presented the concept of the restaurant to her.
After her speech, we were told that dinner was going to be served already. By this time, I was seriously starving, as in loud grumbling stomach hungry, so I was a very happy girl when they announced that. They emphasized though, that they were only serving us SAMPLING sizes, so that our tummies will have more space for the highlight of night, the pastry and cocktail pairings. You might notice that the servings of the pictures that follow are rather small, hence the explanation, they are just sample sizes!
Pumpkin Soup and Caesar Salad in sampler sizes
I liked the thickness of the soup, that it wasn’t too heavy, plus, the butter and pumpkin went well together, but I thought it needed a little bit more salt. The salad on the other hand, was phenomenal! One of the best Ceasar Salads I’ve tried thus far.
Fetuccine Carbonara in sampler size
I liked this version, right seasoning, right amount of bacon, and right amount of thickness. For a creamy pasta dish, this didn’t feel too heavy.
Beef Salpicao sampler version, best paired with red wine
This was straight out beef goodness in every bite. Oh yes, I loved it, too bad it was served in just a sampler size, I wanted more!
Ligid, the family’s guarded secret
This is sort of a hybrid of chicharon and your lechon kawali, it is essentially pork strips, but oh. I cannot begin to express how great this dish is. I definitely recommend this as your appetizer when you visit. It’s a very intriguing dish worth your time. 🙂
Calamansi Sorbet – to cleanse the palette
The sorbet was to prep our taste buds for the dessert pairings!!! After this photo, desserts and cocktails overloooaaaad. 🙂
Class A (almond slice + Amaretto Sour), in sampler size. Again I aready gushed about this dish in my previous post on Paire, but it always tastes very good every single time I eat this pair!!
And oh, I have to let you know, the right way to eat through a pairing is first to take a bite of the pastry, then when you’re halfway through, take a sip of the cocktail. I swear, they make perfect sense when paired together. I’ve tried them all. 🙂
Fresh and Fiery (Spicy Cheese Quiche + Frozen Mojito)
At first, this just sounds wrong, quiche and a mojito? Just absurd, but seriously, when paired together, you’ll realize they’re meant to be!
Before we get on to the rest of the pairings, Kat Nantes, co-owner of Paire, told us all how Paire came about. She was actually an advertising major back in college (UST) and used the skills she got to fuel her event planning business and other endeavors. She also narrated about how Paire was slowly formed. How she already had a small mobile bar business, how she could outdrink us all and still walk out poised, and how driven the sisters were about this business venture.
Now back to the pairings!
First up: Fruit Basket Ala Mode (Fruits on Mudpie + Coffee Crumble Cocktail)
This actually turned out to be one of my favorites after sampling them all, after Class A of course. The mudpie was just so good, moist and chewy and went perfect with the caffeine cocktail.
Fresh and Fiery (Spicy Cheese Quiche + Frozen Mojito)
This is just the full sized version of the samplers just mentioned above.
Sweet Summer (Creme Caramel + Halo halo Cocktail)
This was simply a play on our cold Filipino dessert, the halo halo. I loved this simply because I love leche flan, and creme caramel is a better version of it. I found the cocktail a little bit of the pleasant surprise too. 🙂
Black Forest (Soft Choco Sandwich with Spiked Vanilla Filling + Berry blast Cocktail)
The pastry isn’t like a macaron, more like a cake sandwich, with vanilla filling, I didn’t find it extraordinary, but it tasted good anyway, so yeah. happy kid here.
A closer look on the soft choco sandwiches
Mad About Sugar (Midnight Espresso Cake + Vanilla Lychee Cocktail)
Before I met this pair, I didn’t know coffee would taste good with lychee, but it did!! This goes as my third favorite from all the pairs, next to Class A and Fruit Basket Ala Mode.
The cake was like tiramisu, it tasted great, moist, just amount of bitterness to it, balanced with the sweetness of cream and chocolate, plus the tartness from the margarita.
CLASS A!! (Almond Slice plus Amaretto Sour)
I will forever love this one, I will never ever ever get sick of ordering this. hahaha. I just realized I professed my love for pastry. LOL
A Fine Paire (Spinach and Cheese tart + Sparkling Lemon)
I preferred this one over the quiche actually, but really, I cared more about the sweeter options, haha, since dessert is all about the sweets anyway.
Say hello to Abby on the beckground! She the one behind all the food and drinks that Paire has to offer. She has diplomas from UST Food Tech, as well as one from ISCAHM for Culinary Arts. She talked about her previous doubts on her now bestselling dishes, how grueling a task it had become to perfect every dish on the menu, and how thankful their family is that they have finally reached a year of existence.
You might be wondering why and how the pairing photos turned out great, it was because each pairing was placed on a pedestal, literally, so all the media guests could take photos conveniently.
Their dad also came up on stage and told us all a very inspirational story, how he and his wife both have humble beginnings, being only smalltime employees and not the usual wealthy businessmen who fund their kid’s restaurants. He shared to us how difficult it was at first, and how thankful he was that he had daughters with a vision and drive. I swear you could see the pride every time he spoke of his daughters.
With Abby and Kat Nantes, the Paire powerduo.
These are the sampler pieces I was telling you guys about. We weren’t allowed to touch or eat the full sized ones on the pedestals, but we helped ourselves to lots of sampler sized ones.
My photography skills are improving, yes????? please say they areeee, or just be honest 🙂
A live band performed after the program was over.
Thank you Paire for a wonderful wonderful evening, it was surely a night to remember. Again, Cheers to One!
