CHEERS FOR THE YEAR AHEAD! 2013, LET’S BE LEGENDARY!

image

Happiness aside, here’s one holiday look that I’m proud of. It’s cute, conservative, but also, very me. Such a fun take on fur and polka dots, yes?

image

It was a particularly chilly afternoon when I wore this. That’s a good thing, since I just really wanted to wear this cardigan with the detachable collar ever since mom came home with it. I didn’t want to wear it on a normal day, well, duh, you don’t wear faux fur on a casual day out, you just don’t. So when the invite from Paire Cocktails and Pastries 1st Year Anniversary came, I immediately thought of wearing the cardigan, since a) the event was at night b) it was a media event at night, meaning smart casual c) I just REALLY want to take out that faux fur collar!!!

image

In the end, I came up with this sweet look, perfect for the celebration, of the pairing of cocktails and delectable desserts.

Let us also salute each professional who has sacrificed their time to be with family to make rounds in the hospital, to keep our streets safe, etc. You guys are truly, at the service of the people, thank you. Another thing, pray that everybody else is happy on this day, on this day of the birth of our Lord.

Lastly, I would like to thank each of my readers, for keeping this blog alive, and for making me feel that I matter. I love you all. 🙂

Native

I’ve been wanting to wear this fringe top from One TRF ever since I got it, and after seeing this post from Alyssa’s blog, I decided to wear it in the same formula. Hippie band + top + denim shorts + boots = A not so me look, but it turned out great anyway. 🙂

I entitled this one native because the stripes on my cover up reminded me of the hand-woven fabric usually done by the indigenous people of our country, like the Igorot. Aside from that, my top has this awesome neon aztec print on it, so yeah, I felt like a little Native American girl, or a hippie girl of sorts. LOL

Flower Crown (DIY)

image

So, everyone’s been asking about the flower crown I wore in the previous post, so here’s a tutorial. 🙂

image

What you’ll need:

  • fake flower bouquets / single fake flowers
  • wire
  • floral tape
  • pliers
  • budget: Approx. 500 pesos (Pricey due to all the flowers I had to buy)

image

1. Pick the flowers you want, in the color scheme you envisioned.

Because my gown was in the nude color, I decided to get flowers in peachy tones. I had difficulty finding different sizes in peach, so I got white ones, and pink ones as well. If you can see, I got 4 different bouquets, and 3 single huge roses.

image

image

2. Cut the wire to a length that can fit your head. Then loop the ends using pliers to form a ring, like the ring above.

image

3. Cut the fake bouquet into single stems, include the leaves per stem if you can for a more natural effect

image

4. Bend the stems of the flowers so you can bend them around the wire ring. You can use another wire strand to bend the flower stems further if you have a bit of difficulty

image

image

image

5. Use floral tape to cover all the tracks. The crown will be neater this way, you won’t see the wires sticking out, and will protect you from possible nicks.

image

image

And viola! There you have your flower crown! (photo above wasn’t quite finished, I had just put floral tape on half of it) Anyhoo, the final product is actually a bit heavy with all the stems and flowers, but it looks fantastic in photos, yes?

This Close to a Goddess

image

These have got to be my most beautiful set of photos ever. I was asked by my friend Abbie to model for her photography class. She saw this gown from one of my posts on Instagram, and asked me to wear it for the shoot, as well as bring along the floral crown I made for my yearbook creative shot.

I ended up looking like a wood nymph or some sort of goddess, and I love it. The shoot was very tiring, but seeing photos like these make it well worth all the effort.

image

I’ll be posting a tutorial for this floral crown soon, :). But read this whole post first to see the other photos from the shoot, I swear they’re all beautiful. 🙂 Plus, I’ve got a makeup review for you guys towards the end too. so finish reading this one, okay? 🙂

Now, if you’re wondering what makeup I used, I used a Stila In The Moment Eye Shadow Palette Sample for my eyes and Snoe Beauty Rouge Deluxe in Precious Pout for my Lips.

image

I actually got the eye shadow palette from being chosen as House of Flair’s Bloogger of the Month last November, and because I got swamped in school, blog events, and student council duties that month, I completely forgot to blog about the palette on time. So here I am, posting a review about it, hoping Suyen doesn’t hate me for this. 🙂

image

I’ve only used this palette twice, and I’m loving the results every time.

It with only two sample looks/tutorials, but the actual palette comes with more. I love how each instruction is very clear and specific, and best of all, easy to understand for makeup starters like me. They last a great deal longer than most other eyeshadows too, believe me, I’ve tried a lot of brands in different shoots, and this impressed me, seeing as it was just a sample palette.

image

In the photo set above, I used the bottom set of shades. basically, I just followed the same instructions listed in the sample, but I used the brown shades since the goddess look calls for softer, gentler, natural, glowing hues, and not the dark purples.

image

In the next photo, for another event that I attended a few weeks ago, I tried doing the sophisticated stare look, since the event was held at night, and at a great patisserie & bar. I loved how it turned out, my eyes looked great with this kind of smoky.

image

Now to break it down for you,

Pros

  • great colors to choose from
  • long lasting
  • easy to follow instructions
  • very handy and compact
  • themed so easier for user to know what palette is best for a certain occasion

Cons

  • pretty difficult to apply, only the applicator from my elf palette was able to actually get the powder from the palette, the powder doesn’t adhere to my blending brush well, or maybe because it’s a sample.

All in all, the product was great. I’ll definitely use it again, until no powder is left. teehee.

Visit House of Flair actually sells items shipped from the U.S.A, you can pretty much preorder anything, from cosmetics, clothes, shoes, to bags and home items, except for food and electronics. Born from a Boombox

I dance. I’m not the best, nor a great one, but I dance okay.  I’m part of my college’s dance org, and rehearsals have been one of the funnest memories I have. Dancing is exhilarating, that adrenaline rush that happens once on stage is just amazing. I miss that rush. Hmm, maybe I should dance more often, teehee.

Dancing is a way of life for some, and hiphop, is a movement. Hiphop is one of those dance genres that have evolved through the years, branching into a lot of different subcultures along the way. It is also the genre that fascinates me the most, for me, it the most vibrant and energetic one, with the most angst and powerful emotions expressed thoughout.

Watching hiphop performances always keep me in awe. The skills these people present, whoa. The precision, and all those fancy techniques, just outright, hot. So yeah, I was excited to experience Adidas’ Laced Up Tour 2012, where the hiphop royalty of the country gave me chills.

The “Laced Up” Tour featured 3 of the World’s most critically acclaimed party rockers DJs Apollo (Invisibl Skratch Piklz / Triple Threat Djs / SF), Vinroc (5th Platoon / Triple Threat Djs / SF) & Tony Touch (Rocksteady Crew /NYC) in Singapore last November 15th, Kuala Lumpur 16th,  Saigon 17th, Manila 22nd, Jakarta 23rd & Bangkok 24th of November.

Armed & ready with a diverse selection of quality Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, House, Reggae, & everything in between, these are three of the most skilled, well-rounded purveyors of quality music on the planet who have come together for the adidas Originals “Laced Up” Tour.

They amazed audiences with blistering World Champion level technical skills & unparalleled musicality in their first ever tour of Asia together.

The tour also featured the Breathe & Stop Champion dance crew from each region in an exclusive showcase performance.

For the first time, the Breathe & Stop Cypher One battle witnessed 15 of the best dancers in each city battle it out till one winner reigns supreme demonstrating their flavor, musicality, style, stamina & skillfulness over at least 3 different genres of music.

Along with the Heavy Boogie crew, top local talent from around the region as well as breathtaking live visuals from Scratch Media created a nonstop party rocking extravaganza.

I get kilig everytime I see my name in the media list, <3

with the BNO boys, Slick Rick and Sam YG. 🙂

I went up to the VIP area to check out who were there, and tada, I saw these beautiful people. I was going to ask for their group photo, but they were all busy talking, so I kinda just minded my own business, and went a little paparazzi mode.

Erwan Heussaff, Anne Curtis, Isabelle Daza

It was also nice to see some familiar faces, they are part of UP Manila Indayog, the premiere dance varsity of my university.

I had a lot of fun, thank you Adidas Originals and Breathe & Stop!

Pampered During Tea Time

image

It’s that time of the year again, when I almost never run out of things to do. From academic responsibilities, student council work, Christmas shopping, to blogger duties, I don’t know how I manage to stay sane with just the 24 hours of each day. This invite from ChaLife Milk Tea couldn’t have come at a better time, just as I was about to go bonkers with all the things I have yet to accomplish, I had a fabulous spa treat at Nail It Salon.

image

Spa dates always make me happy, especially when in nail salons, the ambiance is perfect when you just want to unwind. The friendly nail technicians are also pretty easy to chat about with, so you won’t get bored. Another thing I love is all the nail polish colors I get to choose from! I will never have that big of a collection, I currently only have about a dozen, so seeing all those options is a simple delight of mine.

I guess that’s what ChaLife wants us to feel when drinking a cup, serenity, happiness, just the ease, you can have it hot or cold, no hassles, just simple milk tea goodness.

Here’s a photo of me having a great pamper session, foot spa + manicure, yay!

Happy Colors

image

This dress easily makes a statement, with its bright colors and bold print, it is sure to be a showstopper. Which is why, the moment I decided that I’d get it, I thought I should wear it to an event, or to any significant gatherings. Incidentally, on the day I actually wore the dress, I was sort of in a lazy dressing state, but since it was fashion week, I thought this would be the right time to wear the dress out.

When wearing fully printed dresses, I find it best to keep accessories at a minimum, as the look is already busy as it is. Ditch the armparty and go with just one classic watch, with a thin bracelet. As for the earrings, you have the option to go big, with huge rhinestone dangling earrings, or simple pearls. For shoes, I suggest wearing one in neutral colors, so as not to take any attention away from the focal point of your look, the colorful digiprint dress.

As big sister and fashionista of the house, being my sister’s all around stylist, personal shopper, and makeup artist is part of the territory. Every fashion week, I find myself planning outfits for her first before I think about mine. Miya is huge on image so her outfits during fashion week are a pretty big deal for her, so, pressure for me since I only want to boost her confidence.

image

She doesn’t like wearing over the top pieces, so I always stick to classic pieces and basic silhouettes. Her typical school day outfit always includes one cardigan, if not a similar cover up, so I thought, why not show her a way to make cardigans look less preppy and more out there.

image

Her look is very youthful, so I also made sure to use vibrant colors, just the right amount of accessories, and her favorite cute glitter flats.

Sea of Shoes

When it comes to appreciating shoes as an essential part of fashion revolution, I’m a late bloomer. I’ve never been much of a shoe hag, nor do I indulge myself in shoeporn. But now, seeing the rise of statement shoes for the past few years has given me a change of heart. Shoes are indeed, those that can make or break an outfit. That’s how big a role shoes play in the current thriving fashion industry.

My own fascination with shoes started with brands such as Jeffrey Campbell, Finsk, and the legendary Louboutins, which I read about a lot in Chick Lit. I can’t afford them on my own, but, hopefully, when I’m as independent as I wish to be, I’ll be able to buy myself a classic Louboutin pair, a Pigalle in genuine black leather.

Anyway, enough about that. Last fashion week, a good friend of mine, Raissa, gave me invites for the SM Shoes and Bags show. Since I just recently discovered my love for shoes, I was giddy about this show, and invited a lot of friends to go with me. Sadly, the weather was not so good that day, so I ended up going with just Miya (my sister), Alyssa and Ryan (Alyssa’s boyfriend). So many wasted invites. Sad.

On a happier note, I enjoyed the show, especially when the kids were the ones strutting the runway, they even grooved to the music! So adorbs!

This cutiepie! Gaaah!

Those boots, <3

Everything on the runway is currently sold at SM Department Stores nationwide. I especially encourage everyone to check out SM Parisian, the Russian, opulent theme of the collection is very hard to resist.

Say hello to the girls I was with, Alyssa, and Miya. 🙂
