Wise Words From the Fashion Blogging Power Couple

Love Chic gamely posing for a couple ootd shot πŸ™‚

I love blogging, and one of the things I love about it is meeting new people. Aside from increasing your contacts and reaching out to more people, you get to learn from new friends too. This is why I always make it a point to attend events such as the Fashion Blogging Workshop (which you might remember from this post) hosted by Schu & Myth Boutique.

This time, I was able to be the lucky few to get lessons from the country’s Fashion Blogging Power Couple: Seph and Shai of Love Chic. One tip that stood out for me from the whole workshop was: Having a genuinely nice attitude.

I guess that phrase does make sense. When you think about it, having a positive demeanor and a generally likeable aura is what draws people in. Another thing, having a nice attitude gets you to interact with people with more ease, no prejudices, no assumptions, no judgement, just pure getting to know each other awkward fun. That sounds promising, yes?

Anyway, I really did learn a lot from Love Chic, thank you Schu & Myth Boutique for this opportunity! You guys can expect a subtly improved blog after these workshops I’ve been to. πŸ™‚ (Again, thank you to each and every one of you guys who actually take time to read this blog of mine, it means a lot, really :))

A few photos from the workshop proper πŸ™‚

Seph hamming it up for the camera while Shai’s busy answering a query.

What fashion bloggers always do, take outfit shots! After the workshop, everyone went out to take outfit shots before the sunset. I actually love this photo, there’s just so many things going on, bloggers mingling and all. πŸ™‚

Look at these goodies! See that Bling Duck paperbag right there? They contain the flipflops I blogged about here πŸ™‚

Lastly, after the workshop, Alyssa and I rushed so that we would be able to watch the Phantom of the Opera on time (we didn’t watch together, we just happened to be watching on the same show time schedule) πŸ™‚ (photo from my Instagram acct. :))

White’s Hot: Fierce and Fabulous

This has got to be my unfriendliest set of photos yet! Look at me, so, unhappy looking. LOL. I honestly don’t know why the shots with me smiling don’t work, so I ended up using the more fierce ones. Particularly in the photo above, my sister kept telling me to do fierce ANTM-inspired poses when she took my photos. Thank you sister, your support makes me happy. πŸ™‚

Now onto my outfit, I was never a huge fan of white, because of the complexion of my face. If you’ve noticed, my face happens to be darker than the rest of the skin on my body. In my mind, I look darker when wearing white, so I tend to go to the cooler darker shades like blue, so I look fairer.

But, after spending more time in the fashion industry, aka fashion blogging, I realized that white is actually a very flexible color to work with when it comes to fashion. White, is indeed, hot. Unlike the bright colors which I sooo love (I love color!), white can be paired with anything, ANYTHING!

In my case, I decided to go all-white with touches of gold. I wore nude heels too, so as to put anyone’s attention on all the white. For this look, I basically paired every white piece that I love, starting from my studded white top, to my new favorite crochet lace shorts, and my ever reliable white blazer. To keep from making my look too one note, I piled on gold accessories that perfectly complemented my look. πŸ™‚

Styling Tip: A nude pair of pumps is a must in every girl’s shoe collection, not only do they look sexy, they also give the illusion of longer legs.

please excuse my overly muscular calves. Gah. genes.

See that pretty watch right there? I got it from the Sophie Paris Anniversary I blogged about here πŸ™‚

This post is actually an entry to the styling contest by White’s Hot, where one winner will be chosen to be Solenn Heusaff’s next stylist, not to mention a 30k grand prize! Wish me luck everyone! Or better yet, join the contest too!

All That Glitters

Here’s what I wore to Sophie Paris’ 10th Anniversary Celebration a few weeks ago, which I blogged about here. When I was told that the theme was Brazilian Samba, I was literally scrambling for something to wear.

Since samba was very theatrical, with all the shimmer, sequins, feathers and glitters, I decided to go with an outfit that screamed “Look At ME!!!”. Good thing I remembered having this sequin top from H&M which I got a few years back, and this skirt that I got from Paradise Treats, they go well together, yes?

My stubborn, stubborn hair, ugh. My hair was actually curled, but because my hair didn’t want to stick to the curls I spent 2 hours to do, They just formed sort of lifeless waves,. πŸ™ Anyway, My hair was still acceptable right? Di naman halata na ang gulo ng buhok ko?

I find this photo funny, so I posted it here. LOL

So there, what do you think? Will it pass off as samba costume? Let me know in my comment box!

Dance With Me: Brazilian Samba for Sophie Paris’s 10th

The month of October marks Sophie Paris’ 10th Anniversary in the country. To celebrate this milestone, they prepared an event worthy of being the biggest and grandest event of the year, held at the Harbor Garden Tent, Sofitel Philippine Plaza. To those who don’t know, Sophie Paris is a French-owned enterprise for accessories and renowned direct selling business.

Inspired by a sexy Brazilian Samba theme, Danca, foreign word for β€˜dance’, is a sure jam-packed choreography of grooves and moves with swift transitions and strikes perfect to illustrate those ten fruitful and challenging years of Sophie Paris. Everything was in theme, a full splash of a vibrant Brazilian culture hits the music down to the fashion and style motif.

On that note, a perfect match to keep the night in spectacle is Magic 89.9 Radio DJ at Boys Night Out and TV host, Sam YG and well-known TV personality and showbiz news host, Cesca Litton.

A lot of bigwigs were present at the event, including, Sophie Paris Founder Bruno Hasson, among others. Also present is the beautiful Isabelle Daza, who happens to be the brand’s bag endorser. The bulk of the program actually centered on a beauty pageant, which was also judged by Ms. Daza.

I’m at the media table! WOOOHH. It’s an entirely different elation than from seeing Blogger written there, feels so much more legit now. teehee. πŸ™‚

Excuse my haggard but made-up face, eyebags. O.O

And oh, i forgot to mention, there were actually booths outside the tent, showcasing the brand’s latest bag designs, makeup line, and perfume. This booth was also outside, too bad I wasn’t able to get any of the pretty looking candy. boo.

Presenting, the menu for the night, yes, food! yummy food!

I would have liked this dish better if only my fish wasn’t overcooked, πŸ™ too crumbly for my taste.

The VVIP table was just a few steps away from my table, and guess who was sitting there?

Isabelle! haha. At the time I took this photo, I didn’t know she was going on stage, so I used up all of my ninja powers to get a decent photo of her. LOL.

But lo and behold, she went up on stage to present the awards, more photo opportunities for me!

They won best dressed! Aren’t they cute in their over the top outfits?

Presenting, the winners of the pageant, πŸ™‚

Capping the night with ten stars entertainment in dancing and hyped up music are G- Force and DJ Elmer Dado and Gruppo Tribale, respectively.

Thank you Carizza for the invite! πŸ™‚

Ze loot πŸ™‚

This event definitely deserves a perfect ten, from the food, to the production numbers, and the raffle prizes, everything was just amazing! Congratulations again Sophie Paris! Thank you for a wonderful night!

On a side note, don’t you think Isabelle’s campaign for the brand is just fabulous? What’s more is that proceeds from Isabelle’s designed bags will actually go to charity πŸ™‚

I literally had no idea what to wear that day.

I was panicking as I was going to attend the PR and Fashion Workshop sponsored by Schu (which I blogged about here), and the speakers were from Mega Magazine. Mega! Which meant that I couldn’t disappoint. hohoho.

Anyhoo, because it was cold that day, I decided to go for fall dressing.

To Learning and Beyond

A few weeks ago, I attended a PR and Fashion Writing Workshop hosted by Schu and Myth Boutique. It was held at the Schu Factory Outlet in Ortigas, and was one of many in the series of FREE Weekend Workshops by Schu.

Pretty flats in the outlet

(this particular photo grabbed from Rovie πŸ™‚ *sneaky* spot me!)

Cute printed flip flops from Bling Duck

My favorite pairs from the display

The first speaker, Tedrick Yau, PR and Events Manager, MEGA Publishing Group

I never thought PR was so complicated, Tedrick showed us how much work goes into PR, and gave us a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes. He talked about the basic PR tools he uses, and gave us tips for effective PR. I learned quite a number of things, but mostly how to improve my PR, and how I present myself to the public.

He also talked about crisis management, like what happened when Jinkee Pacquiao was Preview’s cover girl. Tip No. 1, Don’t panic. πŸ™‚

Sarah Santiago, Features Editor, MEGA Magazine

I enjoyed her part of the workshop all too much. Not that Tedrick’s was boring, Sarah was just so amusing. the way she presented her talk was engaging, and her anecdotes kept everyone spellbound to every word she said. The topic was Fashion Writing, but she also talked a little about styling and a bit of marketing.

I’ve never had formal journalism training, aside from a few workshops in highschool and college, as I wrote for the school paper, so this workshop was heaven sent for an aspiring fashion blogger like I am. There were three things that stuck from all the things she said, 1) Passion, you can never write anything good without passion. 2) Research! Always know what you’re getting yourself into. 3) Take everyone around you as a teacher, be it your crazy ex, sworn rival, or even a random passerby.

I was definitely more inspired after this talk, thank you Ms Sarah!

The speakers with Giacca Tugob, and Arvin Hernandez, the people behind the workshops. πŸ™‚

Fly Like an Empress

The attire for the Rajo! for Parisian and Milanos Launch was Asian Flair. I didn’t want to wear my cold shoulder top with kimono print since I’ve overused it already, so I looked for other options.

When I thought of Asian Flair, I immediately visualized oriental colors, namely, red. I stuck to red, and paired it with gold, black, and bits of white. This combination goes well together yes?

Anyway, I thought of going the empress vibe, since red was a very Chinese (empires and things) color, and I think I did achieve my empress look, what do you think? Was the cape dress able to do the job?

Kimonos, Cherry Blossoms and Sky High Heels

Remember my previous post on the Rajo for Parisian and Milanos Collection? Well, here’s my follow up post. πŸ™‚

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Rajo for Parisian and Milanos Grand Launch a few weeks back (Thank you Rai!). *Scolds self for blogging about the highly successful event only now. hoho.

Anyway, let me take you to the Japanese Wonderland Rajo Laurel created with his stunning pieces.

One of my favorite looks from the show, a modern take on the kimono.

Don’t you just love the brocade wedges? They’re very pretty close up too!

By 8pm, the function room was already full of Rajo fans eager to see what he has in store for Parisian and Milanos. We were served hors d’oeuvres, petit fours, basically, bite sized food by Bizu catering. The food was soooo good. haha I actually wasn’t able to eat dinner at home, so I took advantage of all the free food I could get. Michael was actually amused at how much I ate. He was supportive anyway, kahit nakakahiya na ko. LOL A mobile bar was also present at the event, Swizzle if I remember correctly, so even if the program started a bit late, guests could move around, mingle, eat, drink, and get into the groove with DJ Callum’s beats.

I went with my great blogger friend Michael, and my HS friend Pam (photo towards the end of this post).

Raymond Gutierrez, host of the event

I was actually right at the edge of the runway, so I saw everything up close, twas a spectacular show indeed. In the photo above, a short dance number to keep the mood going. πŸ™‚

And, the man of the hour, Rajo Laurel himself!

To give all the guests the chance to own a pair before the shoes are made available in SM dept. stores, Rajo opened another showroom, complete with salesladies, displays, and cash registers, so everyone present can own a pair right then and there!

Spotted a lot of bloggers/personalities present so I took a few photos with them.

with David Guison, I seriously went kilig after he told me that my outfit was soo in theme, and that I looked good. Thank you David!

with Seph, the male half or Love Chic. (Want to see Seph in person and learn about Fashion Blogging? Then click this to learn how!)

With the great Divine Lee!

I just had to take a photo with these guys because theit outfits are sooo awesome. (with Jujin Samonte and friends)

DJ Callum in the house!

Meet my friend Pam, she just started her blog, show her some support guys! πŸ™‚
