A few weeks ago, I attended Goody’s Come Play event. I didn’t want to spend Php350 for an invite, as I already owned the Goody products that I wanted, so I joined Alyanna Martinez’s online giveaway instead. Lo and behold, I’m one of the winners!
Read on for a tour of the event 🙂
Once you get to the SM MoA Atrium, you’ll be greeted by this Goody arch, beside it, is a scribble wall.
Since the event was sponsored by Sharpie, everyone was lent a Sharpie pen to write a message on the wall. Look at my writing! #shamelessplugging. LOL
Blowout Bar offered free services for the first 10 girls to line up at their booth 🙂
I got a few freebies at the Avent Philips and Aprica booths
I wanted to have my hair curled at this Philips booth, as I was attending an orgmate’s debut later that night, but the booth was always full of people!
Goody Girls checking out the Goody items on sale
Clara Magalona with her friends
Dani Barretto, Juliana Gomez, Claudia Barretto
With the fabulous Alyanna, rocking color blocking from head to toe!
She talked about styling, as she was, a famed celebrity stylist. In the photo above, she was teaching the girls how to dress for their body type
At one point, Alyanna was asking people to come up on stage to try this flat iron guide, and because the audience was boring and nobody wanted to go on stage, I volunteered. In the end, I won it. haha
Kilig moment: Alyanna complimented my outfit! She loved my use of print on print. yay! (photo at the end of this entry, because I think my thighs look larger than normal, sorry, I do have my insecurities.)
Blowout Bar also had a demo on stage
Camille Co giving everyone great tips on blogging 🙂
The very beautiful, Divine Lee
and, her to-die-for pumps!
Meet my blogger friend, Michael Macalos of The Contemporary Boy, he was working as an intern during the event. He was the one clicking next for Camille’s powerpoint.
I had to leave the event early, so I wasn’t able to listen to Divine give a talk on modelling, but I heard she was really great! I wasn’t able to join the model audition as well. But wth, I won’t get in anyway, didn’t stand a chance against the thin, toned leggy girls Goody usually preferred, *cries*. kidding, bitterness aside, I learned a lot from the workshop. 🙂
And now, my loot from the workshop, plus the Goody items I won from the giveaway. 🙂
Which reminds me, I have yet to use the SM Accessories 500 peso GC that was included in the items I won from Alyanna’s giveaway. Hmm, what should I get? suggestions?
Cute things in a quaint little store inside Shoppesville
Still the same shop, I want those Paris boxes!
It was a typical Sunday for the family, brunch out, shopping, walking around, and just plain family bonding. Too bad my brother Nathan wasn’t around, boo for his medtech internship.
Anyhoo, the day started out with going to the Legazpi Village Sunday Market at Makati. If you’ve been to Mercato, it’s similar, except there’s also a space for dry merchandise, meaning even furniture, bags, shirts and things were also sold, aside from the huge amounts of food and drinks all over the place. I honestly liked this market a lot, compared to Mercato, since in my opinion, there were more food choices available, making each member of my family satisfied with our own picks. In this Sunday Market, you’ll surely find something that’s perfectly suited to your personal preferences, because of the wide selection.
After brunch, we went to Ronac Art Center as I really wanted to check out the ETC Fashion Flea Market. The setup was cute with lampposts giving shoppers directions (photo above). I was expecting a much bigger assortment of shops since ETC is huge, being a channel and all, but then again, the booths that were there had beautiful items, so I’m not complaining. Plus, the bazaar is for a good cause, and a good cause is always enough for me to go to an event. 🙂
Our last stop for the day was Greenhills Shopping Center, since we were already in the area. And yes, I shopped!
The Legazpi Sunday Market is actually held at a spacious parking lot every Sunday in Makati
I love love love this vegetable lasagna, I couldn’t stop eating it! It has the goodness of lasagna, in eggplant parmigiana form! In case you didn’t know, I love eggplant! hahaha It also had a lot of mushrooms and cheese, so eggplant+mushroom+cheese=happy me!
Wagyu shawarma, pricey, but oh so worth it. 🙂
Spot malunggay rice!
I’m kinda converting to a health junkie, so forgive me for promoting healthy food. 🙂
Oyster cake/omelette, in Hokkien Chinese, we call them o-wa-jien. It’s actually a dish popular in Taiwan and Southern China. My mom makes this at home, but the one we ordered was good as well. Still doesn’t beat mom’s homecooking!
My sister forced us to make wacky faces, LOL
Meet bunso, in his HK Disneyland shirt, 🙂 happily sipping his mango shake on a hot Sunday morning
Hello there Sophie’s Mom Red Velvet Cupcake, we finally meet, after bazaar after bazaar of not being able to meet you because you’re always sold out. And must I say, you did not disappoint. 🙂
One of the things that I was found really interesting was this Boyfriend Lounge the ETC Fashion Flea Market thought of. In my opinion, it’s a genius idea! perfect for the boyfriends, dads, brothers, who have no interest whatsoever in shopping.
I need this for the men in my life! Such cool pieces! Neon shoelaces!
If only I was a guy, I would have bought 4 pairs from this booth, look at those shoes!
Look who I spotted manning their Blogger Booths: Ava Te and son Athan, and Ana Gonzales
A young crowd gathered at Mercato Centrale a few weeks ago, to celebrate fashion, food, music and art all in one night. It was TOMS Good Folk Fest, where proceeds will go to TOMS’ “One for One” Movement, by which WE International is a beneficiary.
If you remember, I already invited everyone to come to the event with this post, and now I’m going to give you guys, (those who weren’t there anyway), a run through of the amazing things that happened that night 🙂
The beautiful and talented Nicole Andersson (photo above) hosted the gig, I honestly never knew how great her hosting skills were until this event, so I was pleasantly surprised. 🙂
Each guest’s pass/ticket came with these coupon cards that you could exchange for discounts or freebies! Discounts + Freebies, that sounds so great for a bargain seeker like me! And spot the cute Good Folk Fest Cupcakes too! (cupcakes by: Little Bites)
the HUGE BONUS: Seeing fab bloggers Laureen Uy, Camille Co, and Patricia Prieto there, in support of their good friend Nicole! On another note, Mike Concepcion, the new etcHQ host, was actually also there, prolly ‘cause etc was a sponsor, and boy was he tall. O.O. midget like I am stands no chance. LOL.
And because we were already in the middle of Midnight Mercato, might as well have a look around and have a mini food trip! 🙂 (In photo: scrumptious Wagyu Paella, you can never go wrong with Wagyu! even if its a bit pricey:))
Aizel and Adson (not in photo) accompanied me to the event, thanks guys!
See that donation jar there? Even though everyone there has coupons for free popcorn, the TOMS Good Folk Fest encouraged everyone to still give donations as everything was for a good cause anyway. I thought this was a very good idea, because each one of us was given the option to pay/donate whatever amount we had, big or small. 🙂
Got myself a free Zalora Voucher too 🙂
And now we go to the Music part of the event, performances included the following groups: Techy Romantics, Bee Eyes, Luigi D’Avola, Walkie Talkies, Yolanda Moon, Carla Manglapus and the Executives. The special guest DJ on the other hand, was THE DJ Callum David. With this lineup, no wonder we had a lot of fun!
Our favorite was actually The Executives! They are named such becuase they are actually company bigwigs with a passion for music. In their spare time, the band members showcase their love for music with performances such as this one. 🙂
Live Art by: Dee Jae Pa’este and Frank Magalona
For the Art part, there was a blank wall where the artists were to create a mural/painting right on the spot! Everyone was also allowed to write/scribble signatures on the art after the artists were done.
AAAnd introducing, my long lost Xavierian friend (we met during Xiamen China Study Tour 2004), Jordan, who I haven’t seen for more than 7 years!
Now what Mercato post would be complete without food shots!
See those striped ones? they’re called seafood buns, if you find any at shabu shabu restaurants, make sure to order them! As well as with mozzarella balls, they’ve both got ooey gooey goodness when cooked. 🙂
I was actually quite intrigued by this one, wonder what it tastes like? Too bad I was already too full when I found it. 🙁
Btw, I won this Nuvos bluetooth headset at the event, yay! YAY FOR FREE STUFF! YAY FOR WINNING! trololol
Meet Jem, my original best friend! haha. We were best friends in grade school, but we grew apart in high school and got into separate barkadas. With all that, we still love each other nonetheless. 🙂 Jem, when you read this, thank you for my tickets! Jem happens to be part of the team that organized this event, the Good Folks of DLSU.
photos by Jem Lim, Adson Chua, and yours truly
To the TOMS Good Folk Fest Team, congratulations for the highly successful event! I’m sure everyone had a great time there, I know I did!
I went to Tagaytay last long weekend with the friends I can’t live without. 🙂 They are my high school barkada, the girls I’ve grown up with and love like family. 🙂
We started the day with going to Breakfast at Antonio’s, then to the fine dining part that is Antonio’s, then to Tagaytay Highlands for the rest of the day.
Antonio’s is incredibly photogenic, which is why we took quite a number of shots in the place. 🙂
Kim’s Schublig Sausage & Scrambled Eggs Php 395 – He says this was very good, and the hash brown was cooked to perfection, crispy and golden 🙂
meet my high school friends, my soulmates, the girls I can always depend on, L-R Jennifer, Phylicia (me), Adrianne, Meryl
Beal decided that we each had to have a solo shot with our ordered food, so here they go. 🙂
Me with my Pork Barbecue & Peanut Rice Php 300 – I honestly thought my dish was good, the barbecue actually reminded me of Thai satay. The rice was good though, I never thought peanut and a bit of oregano would make rice taste so good!
I also ordered a Homemade Yoghurt with Lemon Curd for Php 95, which you will see later in this post
Jen with her Fresh Corned Beef and Eggs Php 400 – I tasted this, and boy was I surprised. I can actually say that this is the best corned beef I’ve ever tasted. Well, given the price of it, it should be of top notch quality. It was juicy, and not too salty, but with all the savory goodness of beef. Definitely a must try when you go there 🙂
Meryl with her Chorizo Bilbao and Eggs Php 400 – I tasted this as well, and being the chorizo hater that I am, I actually found it acceptable. haha. I really don’t like chorizo, especially the Spanish ones, but it was good. Meryl didn’t like it too much either, but Jen said she liked it too.
Aa with her Roesti (US Beef) Php 450 and Kim with his Schublig
Beal with his Beef Tapa & Eggs Php 390 – Beal simply said it was really an upscale version of the tapsilog. It wasn’t dry because a healthy amount of fat was with the beef.
my pork barbecue! The orange perfectly complemented the meat!
Homemade yoghurt with lemon curd topping- At first, I thought the yoghurt was too sour, but then again, what do you expect with lemon? but when I mixed it thoroughly, there was actually sweet curd, which did great for my already tart tongue!
the BEST corned beef, ever.
Adrianne’s Roesti Php 450 – Roesti is actually Crisp Potato pancake, with your choice of meat, in Aa’s case, US Beef, with Eggs, and served with Panini. Aa says this was very good, and the potato was cooked perfectly. The potato wasn’t soggy at all, given that she ate hers very slowly. Aa happens to eat the slowest in our barkada, with me and Meryl being the fastest.
You might be wondering how a bunch of students, plus a fresh grad (Meryl just graduated from ADMU last March), can afford to eat at such an upscale restaurant. How? with an online deal of course! I purchased this coupon from Metrodeal that gets us 50% of the food. HAHA. I purchased the 1200 for 2400 worth of food for 6 people coupon, hence the 400 pesos range in the prices of the food we ordered. HAHA. in short, each of us paid for 200 pesos, for the 400 worth of food each. yay for great deals!
We met up as a despedida for Meryl, she’s going to Shanghai for a language course, for 1 year. In short, vacation for her! Haha. We actually learn to speak, read and write in Mandarin in high school, but this trip would serve as a refresher course for her since we don’t get to practice speaking Mandarin once we get to college.
Outfit shot! thanks to Adrianne for taking this photo!
Next stop, Tagaytay Highlands! Both Beal (Jen’s boyfie) and Kim (Aa’s boyfie) are members there, typical of Xavier boys. hoho.
Got to try mini golf for the first time!
We played in teams of two, of course, Meryl and I played as a team, since the lovebirds are automatic teammates.
Kim and Aa won. haha.
I’m very lucky to have friends like these guys, we’ve literally been friends for more than 10 years now, 11 years to be exact. We may not be always together, usually meeting for only a few times in a year, but we’ll always be in each other’s hearts, supporting each other, all the way. As Elizabeth Foley puts it, “The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.” I LOVE YOU GUYS. 🙂
We ate snacks in the Sports Center in Highlands, then headed back to Manila with a pitstop in Nuvali. There, I bought my mom a cake from Purple Oven since it was also her birthday that day. 🙂
When we got to manila, they dropped me off at Napoli’s Pizzeria Timog Ave. because that’s where my family was going to meet me for my mom’s birthday dinner.
I only took a photo of the pizza, since we were so hungry we ate the pasta in a flash. HAHAHAHA. Everyone should go and eat at Napoli, the food is always so yummy, and at cheap prices too!! Big servings as well, 🙂
Happy Birthday Ma!
Photos by Me, Aa or Beal, taken with either my camera, or Kim’s awesome DSLR. 🙂
I went to Divisoria last weekend to run some errands for our college student council, if you remember from this post, I am part of the Execomm for the SC 🙂 I decided to buy pretty things for my cute cousins Thea and Trisha, a hodgepodge of earrings, hair ties, hair clips, and mirrors. I hope they love the loot I have for them! 🙂
I managed to buy a few accessories while at it too, no time for actual shopping since I was really pressed for time, and running errands actually used up a lot of my time, boo.
Plus, new accessories from aRTe! Visit them on Facebook and like them too! they have very lovely items, all handmade with love 🙂
