Month: March 2011

Heavenly.

My friends Alyssa, Fran, Michelle, Ken, Marky and LJ got me this spa package as a gift for my birthday. When they gave me the coupon/gift certificate, I had no idea what package they purchased for me, Alyssa didn’t want to tell me, so as not to spoil the surprise. I had to go to the spa to know what exactly the spa package contains.

The expiry date written on the coupon was March 19, 2011, they gave me the coupon at February 19, 2011, which gave me one month to claim my gift. As I was being swallowed by school work, I was only able to claim my gift Thursday last week, March 10, 2011.

Tentenenen. my spa package included : 1 hour full body massage, plus mani-pedi.

God I wanted that massage so bad. If you’ve been reading my past posts, you’ll see that I’ve been really busy last month, with lots of dance performances, campaign period, and hiking for our field trip, not to mention the mounds of schoolwork never seeming to decrease with each night spent on them.

Anyhoo, back to my spa day.

I went to Nailfiles Hand and Foot Spa, Burgundy Transpacific Place Taft Avenue Manila (Right across DLSU-Manila)

It was actually my 2nd time going there, (1st time = pedi only) the interiors were green and lavender, very calming and soothing, perfect for your spa experience.

The staff assigned to me was Me-Ann, I asked the front desk for her name because I really liked her, and will request for her the next time I get back there. LOL.

She started off with cleaning. she washed my hands and feet and proceeded to general cleaning, trimming, and filing of my nails.

She then asked me to proceed to the mezzanine, where the massage beds were. The beds were separated by drapes, for privacy of course. After which I changed into the towels / sheets provided for the massages, then the magic began.

Oh yes, I loved my massage. yeah. I haven’t been to a single spa in ages! Gosh, college is eating me alive!

I fell asleep after my massage, that’s how relaxed I felt!!! After sometime, my masseuse woke me up, asked me to change back to my clothes, to finish my mani-pedi.

We went back downstairs, and I picked my nail polish colors. Because I wasn’t a fan of match-y stuff, I opted for a Flirty Pink color for my fingernails, and Witch Blue for my toenails, both colors were from OPI.

say hello to what I call my BARBIE NAILS! I so love this Flirty Pink shade from OPI. 🙂 oh btw, I made that cross connector ring in the picture, if you want one for yourself, you can order here

I entered Nailfiles at around 7, and got home past 10pm, 3 spa hours are just enough for me. Looking forward to my next spa adventure!

Jill-of-all-trades, master-of-none

Gutsy, what a word. I have always been described as gutsy, in every sense of the word. Gutsy can mean bold, courageous or brave, whichever works, as all three words are easily interchangeable by most anyway. I have never been one to shy away from a challenge, let alone pass up an opportunity to show people what I can do. I guess it is this quality of mine that brings me to my dilemma at the moment, which raises the question: what am I best at?

I have never answered the question myself, I have asked a lot of people though, but no two people have said the same answer. People tell me what I’m good at, but I don’t hear anyone tell me that I’m best at this, or best at that. I gave up on that quest then, of searching for that one thing where I can honestly say is my forte. That said, I finally concluded on one thing: I am the Jill-of-all-trades, master-of-none. What I mean is that, I do not have a specialty, but I’m pretty darn good with a lot of things. I’d like to think of myself as a well-rounded person, flexibility being one of my best qualities. I can speak to the most pompous of asses, and yet blend in with the extremely shy ones. That’s a perk then when you’re always dealing with different kinds of people, you don’t get stuck with your specialty when dealing with them, you adapt, test the waters and you get to explore other things that you’re good at.

At the start of my searching quest, I was lost and confused, afraid of what I may find. Having established and convinced myself that I am in fact the Jill-of-all-trades, master-of-none, I have decided to just make do with what I have in front of me. After all, that’s what I’m best at, being good at possibly everything.

*note: this was one of my entries as my application for my college paper Pharmakon, I hope I get accepted! It’s been such a long time since I wrote for a school paper. Soooo, wish me luck!
